The guy's been shaken up pretty badly, but I'm willing to believe a reasonable part of what he says. Not the details, but the general sense and the general dehumanizing attitude. Why do I think that? It's in line with a lot of truthful accounts from other similar wars. I am having much harder time believing that the Iraq war is some sort of fantastic exception to the nature of this type of war.

Nice site, I love this one in particular:

The US vice president shoots one in the heart and in the face. Then he apologizes for all the trouble it’s caused him. That’s what it means to be a Republican.
Despite almost hysterical warnings the US president stays asleep at the wheel. He does nothing about terrorism and 9/11 happens. He responds by running away to Nebraska. Three days later he makes a supposedly impromptu speech with a bull horn [sic] on the rubble of the World Trade Center. He is universally cheered as a hero. That’s what it means to be a Republican. The president puts together false claims to go to war with the wrong country. His party universally supports him. The Bush administration mismanages the war in Iraq so that it creates chaos, a breeding ground for insurgents. Along the way, the reasons for going to war are exposed as false. The president runs on national security as his main issue. He is re-elected. That’s what it means to be a Republican.
The president cheerfully gives away the surplus to the richest people in the U.S. Then he runs up record debts, just to throw more money their way. He claims it has helped America’s economy. People act like they believe him.
The Bush administration continues it’s [sic] magnificent tradition of going to sleep when it is warned of disaster. It does nothing when Katrina is coming. It continues its record of doing nothing when disaster arrives. As New Orleans was lost, just as when the World Trade Center was lost, the president got as far away as possible. But he can’t be blamed for what nature did. That’s what it means to be a Republican.
The U.S. president orders wiretaps without warrants, a straightforward violation of the constitution. When the U.S. Attorney General is called to bear witness, the head of the Judiciary Committee insists that his proof not be under swear [sic]. The head of the intelligence committee suggests that the law be changed, now, to make it legal after the fact.
Alberto Gonzales helped come up with the program that rejected the Geneva Conventions, that permits torture, that says that the president is above the law and that “he was only following orders” should be a defense against a charge of war crimes. Ah, if only the Nazi war criminals who were hung [sic] at Nuremberg had Gonzales there to defend them. The president nominates Gonzales to be his new Attorney General. He is confirmed with little debate and no outrage. That’s what it means to be a Republican. And this needs to be understood.
What it implies is that Republicans can’t be dealt with as if reason and facts will sway them. Because it wont [sic]. It’s hard for reality based people, regular Democrats and Liberals to understand that.
What has been done by Republican Leaders in the U.S. government? Let’s American people to know the fact that, [sic] they have to take more vigorous and rigorous stands. If not they have to accept the reality that real American values and the American landscape will disappear, not just temporarily, but forever.

Fish..... you forgot to put the title of that article down....
"America’s Fifth Columnists: On Being A Republican (http://www.sweetness-light.com/archive/americas-fifth-columnists-on-being-a-republican)

January 2nd, 2007

In the spirit of looking back at the stories that were missed over the last year, there could be a library filled with articles written by "Americans" for our enemies.
The following still appears on the official Iran state website (http://english.irib.ir/political/sceneamerican.htm#U.S. Aid to Israel Pu):....." and then inserted was the article you posted, which is here: http://www.sweetness-light.com/archive/americas-fifth-columnists-on-being-a-republican

I'm not sure what that has to do with a fruitcake like Jessie MacBeth, who likes to violate Exparte Orders of Protection and make up stories about how as an army ranger he was given orders to murder large numbers of Iraqi men, women, and children.

I certainly don't know what a liar like MacBeth has to do with being a Republican.

He's a lying scumbag who made a habit of getting on public stages and lying about our soldiers.

I also agree with dean - im not two minutes in and have already picked flaws.

For example, debriefing taking place before the mission???! "now boys, this is what happened, you go and make it so":damn:

sometime, the pacifist elements will wake up to themselves..

Edit: watch his eyes, he rarely makes eye contact with the interviewer - and when he does so, its fleeting. guaranteed sign of a liar

"we had to go in there make sure everything was dead still" - no. sorry, but anyone who believes this clown is worse than him!

Edit* Left wingers need to see this. People like this are the ones making it all out to be as bad as is the popular belief. And i made those comments before without having any idea who the hell he is.

This guy (and I use the term loosely) is still making the news as a "credible source"?

Sometimes I despair, I really do.

I'm not sure how to compare Malkin with MacBeth.

He lies about being in the military and killing civillians, which emboldens terrorist propaganda, and Malkin who is an investigative journalist. Or is only ok to be a journalist if you write stories like Seymour Hersh that gets Americans killed?

Ugh....

I had never heard about this guy and clicked on the video link at top of page...was reading and listening to him and reading stuff about him...and about half way through his video when he is telling how he and other soldiers would "Post Up" in a mosque before worshippers would come in then slaughter approx 100 of them....I clicked stop.

Sounded like he was making things up as went. I kinda almost feel sorry or pity for him but not....that statement just tries to drag the whole armed services down into Assassin status and that irks me...

Glad I never knew about this guy before now....

I don't understand how this guy could pass for an Army Ranger. Any army specialty where battlefield communications may be a necessity, you won't find many gross stutterers. I'm not putting down people who stutter, but that alone would have disqualified him from serving in that specialty.

This guy is obviously a fraud. Or useful idiot, depending on how you look at it. If he's in prison, he's exactly where he belongs.

This guy is such a fake. Here's a few examples of why:

1) When he said that the bunker (~2:30 minutes into the vid) was "half destroyed," this gives a bit away. When the USAF knows that they are going to attack a Bunker, they automatically switch to a penetrator type of bomb (GBU-28 for example). The bunker would be totally destroyed once one of these hit.

2) "There were a bunch of people still alive afterwards" Wrong. Dropping a 5,000-pound penetrator (about 2,000 lbs of explosives) on a bomb shelter would kill EVERYONE inside. That is a time-tested fact.

3) You don't send people on the ground to do BDA's (Battle Damage Assesments). People are already there, or the aircraft which dropped the bomb would have to observe the damage. You NEVER send people to there later. Why? Because in the time the bomb dropped and the time that the "BDA guys" got there, enemy units would have already arrived for clean-up duties.

What's his name?
"MacBeth", for real?

I read the Shakespeare play at school:

SCENE I. A desert place.

Thunder and lightning. Enter three Witches

First Witch

When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?

Second Witch

When the hurlyburly's done,
When the battle's lost and won.

Third Witch

That will be ere the set of sun.

First Witch

Where the place?

Second Witch

Upon the heath.

Third Witch

There to meet with Macbeth.

First Witch

I come, GrayMalkin! [<---sic!]

Second Witch

Paddock calls.

Third Witch

Anon.

ALL

Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
Hover through the fog and filthy air.

Exeunt

one of those code pink affiliated groups 'soldiers against the war' or some such crap. wiki the dude, he has an article about himself there.

notice that Rush mentions Jessie MacBeth in his post here:

then Senator Harkin takes the high road:
