View Full Version : Can a U-boat still take on water when fixed

:D Hi gang this my be a no brainer but i have noticed sometimes after taking a heavy DC ing that after i fix the flooding thta when still submerged and at low speeds the aft end of the boat starts to sink,if i speed up this help and bring the tail back into line.Is it possible for leaks to remain or is it somthing else like a ballast problem.I have no doubt one of my fellow bubble heads will know so il thank you now in advance....Cheers:know: :know: :up: :up: :up: :up: :up:

Were your dive planes or rudder damaged? I remember once my dive planes were destroyed and after fixing all the damage I could I went submerged at periscope depth. I looked at the external camera and had to laugh... I was travelling along at a 45 degree angle with my bow sticking out of the water! It was back to base after that :down:

IIRC - It takes awhile for the water to be pumped out. So even though you have fixed the flooding there is still water left in the compartment. Until this is removed your boat will tilt.

The boat will tilt when water is in its compartment. You need to pump out all the water before your boat can return to normal position

Also, the boat will sink when it takes in water, where the rate of intake of water is increasing gradually (due to increasing water pressure)
