its march 1944 , stationed in bergen on my new 17 patrol i was send to Cf 74
the problem is that there is no cf 74 ... or cf 14 for all that matters .

Very odd but I have had BDU send me to grids in the middle of England. I just return to port to get another assignment.
its weird cause CF skips from CF73 to CF75 and from CF13 to CF15
i never noticed this before , maybe its from SH3 commander 2.7 ?

Yes, commander has sent me to land before, I take it as an order from BdU to do whatever the hell I want.
It's code for "Shore Leave"

What we were trying to say is Cmdr sends you to places that aren't patrolable.

We understand that. The land locked locations are non patrollable as well. Go back to port for another assignment or attempt to enter the twilight zone looking for this CF74

I'd chalk it up to some friendly secretary at BdU deciding you didn't need to die this week. So go out just beyond German DD coverage, dive the boat, gorge the crew on all the fresh food, and booze, do a fuel dump and then come back a few days later saying you didn't see a thing at your assigned grid so decided to come back early for Bernard's important lederhosen fitting...
But actually yeah, it's just a Commander thing. You can either dock the boat at your base and get a new patrol grid or just consider it a free hunt and go wherever you think you can sink something.
OH ... OH  THE SHAME !!! im sorry  ... im sorry

First, to Schatten: it's not a "Commander thing". The stock game gives you patrol grids on land as well.
To Jmack: it wasn't BdU making a mistake, it was your radioman misreading one keystroke. I should know; I was a radioman.:rotfl:

:rotfl:I've done that. Worse is when you patrol the wrong area for the 24 hours, head back towards base, and realize you weren't in the right area.

Huh. Well I guess that shows how long it's been since I played SH III stock, thanks for the correction Sailor Steve.
I still like to think it was the help of some secretary at BdU trying to improve his survival chances in '44 though, hopefully someone buxom who'll wait at the docks for his return. :arrgh!:

No it hasn't. Whilst SH3Cmdr allows you to modify grids, it does NOT allocate them to you. It simply picks up the details of the grids that SH3 has allocated you.
If you do get a grid that doesn't exist or is over land (stock SH3 came with a few), then use SH3Cmdr to change it to a valid grid.

Nah .... don't worry about it. I've posted stuff like that here and offered to demote myself back to Bilge Rat more than once, but the guys here are very forgiving. It's cool.

Ah CF74, the mountains, the streams, the beer, the Women .. Mama mia ! Myself and the Crew went by Train with the Sub lashed down to a double platform bogey at the rear .. the looks we got as we trundled thru the Countryside ! :rotfl:
PS Not long after, the Grid was renamed to a place name .. Brigadoon.

I'm also got a patrol grid very close to land (appox. 10m)
Luckily it is in friendly area (in the north west of Pola)
I just went there, stopped and wait to 24 hours, then return to Liverpool / Alexandra convoy route to hunt stuffs
