AMD SEMPRON 3300+ and ASUS K8V-X SE motherboard $149 (brand new from computer store).

I have a pentium 2.4 northwood with an ATI 800 pro graphics card . For $149 i cannot go wrong , right .

I'm not sure how the move from a PIV 2.4 Northwood to a AMD Sempron 3300+ is a step up? :hmm:

As for the deal itself, it seems an ok price if it is in AUD $.

Buy a core2duo series processor and p5b series motherboard if you can.

Thats notmuch of a performance jump. The AMD will be faster, but I doubt it will be that noticeable. I guess your power bill will go down since P IV's are power hungry.

Buy at least an AMD 64 (It has a more effiecient memory bus), or if you can, get an Intel core duo which is the performance king right now. It's weird saying Intel is the faster CPU since it's been so long, but they are with Core Duo. :)
