Hey laddies!
Gotta lil prob here.
When running on Diesel the right engine suddenly dies out.
When submerged the right engine runs fine as on batteries.
It decreases my max surfaced speed to a lousy 13 knots. :(
Hope someone has a solution.
Cheers!

Are you using SH3 Commander? This will throw in random equipment failure.

Or some French man with a wrench.;)

Have you just surfaced? If so, the right engine is being used to recharge the batteries. If you need the speed and don't care about the juice, click on the 'Chief' icon; one of the choices is to stop recharging. That will give you back the speed. Of course the batteries won't recharge if you do that, but when you're chasing down a convoy sometimes you need one over the other.

I suppose you mean the right shaft is stopped, as there is no way to see the engine itself is stopped ? Isn't this the one used for battery reload ? May be look in this direction, going for some reason on reload mode ?

No problemo, a French man can sometimes be useful, even without a wrench...;)

Time to stop sniffing glue!:shifty:
Oh give the guy a break.
I found out about the free internal cam a few months ago.:rotfl:

And I was thinking Bernard was at play once again.

hell ... i just know about the right click in the officer picture thing and the red and blue lines on the map ... i never notice them before
and i dont sniff glue ...;)
allot of diesel fumes maybe but not glue
Hmmm...i always thought both engines were running during battery reload..but at lower rpm, since they had to run the generators.... But using the right engine exclusively to reload...Well, we learn something new every day....

Yeah, both engines run, but only 1 drives a prop. The other drives a generator/altenator to recharge the batteries. You'll notice a drop in performance too.
edit: I think SH2 was the same....

I never knew this, I am still learning new things everyday with this game even after two years of playing
Well, we learn something new every day....
Indeed
We all are hardcore SH3 veterans but we didinīt know about that :damn: :rotfl:

Yep one shaft for propulsion and the other for ancilliaries (including the ice maker, fridge, blender, etc) :D

I believe you hit shift and F2 and you can walk around the interior. Just don't go outside of it because the game might lock up on you and crash:down:

I would suspect then that most don't know you can ask the engineer to have standard propulsion that will stop the charging and bring both diesels online for more speed?

They should know it now. I pointed all that out even before Corsair's post. Look above.

You believe correctly. You can walk around the control room, through the hatch to the radio-hydrophone compartment, and even up the ladder to the conning tower. If you go the wrong way you may crash, or you may just get stuck:
