Other U Boats at sea

Has anyone seen any other U-Boats at sea other than entering harbours?

I recently attacked a convoy off the west coast of Scotland in September of 1940 and saw a destroyer blown in half, it wasnt one of my torpedos and there was no report of any aircraft in the area, so my only thought was possibly another U-Boot.

But I still havent seen any other boats at sea other than entering harbour.

Possible two things:

He was close enough to a minefield.
Luftwaffen can in and bombed it.

seen another sub at sea..........no....but i've seen "destroyer blown in half" thing also, in the middle of the ocean

In GW there are U-Boats in harbours and out there in the open ocean. If I remember correctly they do attack enemy shipping but I'm not totally sure how they do it. The problem with SH3's game engine is that a unit (ship or sub) can be either surfaced or submerged. That causes problems for AI U-Boats to operate properly, hence you will see them either on the surface or under water.

In GW there are uboats close to harbours but not out in the atlantic
There are in GWX but they are surfaced and fight with deck and flak guns

Late war i've seen an AI Uboat go charging at a DD frigin his deck gun until he was of course sunk but the DD. This was in the Bay of Biscay a few km off St. Nazaire in GW.

The distraction he caused allowed me to line up a shot on the DD who went to the bottom soon after his victim.:arrgh!:
