Hey folks, a bit of a strange request on my part here (what else is new? :arrgh!: ), but can anyone recommend some SubSims that are good for going to sleep to? I know, its a bit pathetic, but I get really relaxed when I hear the slow thumping of the diesels or the gentle whine of the machinery when submerged. I already use Pacific Aces, because it takes so bloody long to do one patrol, but are there any good sound mods to use for say Sub Command or Dangerous Waters so's it actually sounds like you're on the submarine and cooked up cosy in the Captains bunk?

That was one of the disappointments for me with DW and SC, the sound wasnt too brilliant - I mean, its all well and good having the most accurate sonar and sound physics, but I dont think I've ever heard a completely and utterly silent SSN. :ping:

Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?

Fine, the chances are actually small, but one day you're going to run into an escorted convoy and then you'll discover that not only did you found a good tool for sleeping but the best clock-alarm out there. :D

I do the same thing! I set sail in SHIII with some of my cool sound mods. I put myself in the Captains bunk and then I just go to sleep. Sometimes at ungodly hours of the mourning I am awaken by the watch officer about some far off contact. I usually check it out to make sure I am in no immidiate danger (with eyes heavy and half shut) and then I curl back up in my warm bed and sleep away to the pleasant sounds of the ocean and my diesels. (Who would have thought diesels and pleasant would ever be used in the same sentence?)

I have an ambiance mod in SHIII that loops where you hear some light coughing and maybe a pencil drop, papers shuffling, etc... it happens a little too often to make a perfect nights sleep but its the best I have been able to come up with so far.

Sometimes I just turn on Das Boot and go to sleep with that on. I don't speak german though so sometimes I get tempted to look at the words instead of sleep. Depth charges are a bit loud too. :arrgh!:

Das Boot is a great movie to go to sleep with. I think that I have fallen asleep everytime I've tried to watch the uncut version. :D

Heretic!

If you use the 10-minute long "Internal Life Mod", you can just link directly to the file and have it loop all night long. It's pretty quiet, mellow and boring.

Who needs that to fall asleep too? I just suck my thumb with my blanky and all is good:rock:
