View Full Version : Short interview with Grossadmiral Dönitz

Yep, famous story there. The guy knew where to get his sources - tried in practice. Too bad for him that it still didn't work. I think there'll be an endless debate on whether Doenitz was a tactical genius or a crank who stuck too hard to an idea.
Regardless, he was definitely a great leader that the U-boat fleet respected.

Heh, what was that sailing ship carrying? Such a small boat and HUGE explosion, or maybe the director of that clip had watched too much hollywood.
Talking of videos and pictures, does anyone know where I can get photos of the Graf Spey. I've tried Floating Dockyard but they only do USA ships. The IWM is too confusing; I've spent ages on their site trying to locate a picture.
I ask because I was once on the Graf Spey as a lad, in 1937/38 and would like a picture.

Wow, Donitz had a pretty nasally voice!
Nice find.

Your right about the 300 boats :yep: I've just read Clay Blairs book (volume 1) for the second time and it's kinda interesting to note that Raeder overruled his request for addittional submarine tonnage on three separate occasions during the mid to late thirties :o
