Aey guys, first post here. I've been playing since the game came out, currently using GW, added newer sounds, damage effects etc., but ever since I've owned the game I always experienced Black triangles on the horizon that flicker at times.
I have a 1.8GHZ PC, 1G of Ram, 256MB ATI Radeon video (PCI), all drivers updated. Is my card ****, or due I need to adjust somethings.

Welcome to SubSim
I'm not totally sure about that but I think it's a problem with your graphics card.

I believe the 9250 is a directx8 card thats the problem
So its live with it - as I do - or upgrade I'm afraid

If you have some pocket change, check out the Nvidia cards. They have some darn good ones at darn good prices. I have a 6200 256mb OC(overclocked) sure it is not the Masserati of Nvidia cards but it plays the game very well and I got it for $60.00. If I'm not mistaken this game was designed using the Nvidia cards as the platform for graphics.

The less I say the better !!...I'm running with an ATI Radeon 6250SE and it's working fine (touching wood/scratching my head) :D
I run with the 9250 as well. I started a thread on this a while back and researched it very extinsively, it is a problem with the video device you would be better off upgrading your card, there are threads on here that explain which cards are the best to use.
I still run with the 9250 although I just underclocked it a bit with an ATITool.
I still get the black iceburgs but very tiny hardly noticeable, that I can live with until I can upgrade.

ATI will soon release a monster that should rival the Geforce 8800 , go get that one and tell me how the game feels m8
I have the same issues with my ATI Radion 9250 SE - I thinks its about time I upgraded the card anyway and this gives me the perfect justification to the wife to do so ;)
I've tried the default windows driver, the old version that came with the card, and the latest version from the ATI website and there is no improvement.
