hi again

i know crash issues have been reported and i've had a look at them, but still i don't know what's going on in my case...

i saved a mission (i overwrite), and when i loaded it (i was surfaced), i set to periscope depth and it crashed. if i did NOT dive but stayed on the surface it went ok (or so it seemed). it didn't crash, i played for a whike, sank a few, etc and saved. again, overwriting: not a very clever thing to do but i didn't think of it at the time.

then next time, as soon as i loaded this mission it crashed. when it says "initialising" at the beginning... well it didn't go beyond this. i have found that i can continue on the next patrol all right, so it's not too serious, only i won't be able to finish that patrol (the one which crashes) and will get no renown.

any ideas, please?? thanks all.

A similar time happened to me in SH3. On my 44th patrol, in mid mission, using different save names, I got the same thing, "Initializing..." then my desktop.

Ubisoft and I worked back and forth trying to fix the issue and other subsim members tried also, but we were unable to retrieve the mission, so my first U-51 was left at see.

I hope you can find some way to retrieve your mission, 'cause I know how hard it hits you when you have gone so far and then lose your career.

One hint, do not save while submerged.

Sorry, but I was not much help for you.

Rob

thanks for your reply. actually i could continue at the next patrol, so it's not so bad; only i lost the medals/promotions etc. a bit annoying but not so bad. your loosing the entire carrer is awful!

what i do now (if it's any help for you) is save (away from ships, surfaced, etc). sooner or later, you have to quit the program. when you load that mission, if it works (ie. if it doesn't crash), i save that as "savegame... - cp" i add the "-cp". now i can exit the game and backup my carrer because i have just found out that i can load the "-cp" savegame and can start from there.

got it?? i'm not sure i explained it very clearly ;) hope it's of some help. cu!
