Today a found an old tape with the great cartoon "Wilk i Zaj±c" :D
The original name of this cartoon is Nu, pogodi! "Ну, погоди!"
This cartoons was really popular during "the good old days" in the eastern bloc.
Now my question is does anyone of you remember this cartoon? Xabba? Kap? Anyone?
I would so gladly post an episode but I am not sure if it is still protected by copy-write laws.

Like heck! Nostalgia to the max.

I was raised on these cartoons. I still have copies of them around and happily watch them every once in a while. When I was in Russia this summer, I also caught it still being on TV every once in a while.

There's a lot of great cartoons from the Eastern Bloc, kind of a shame that the Westerners here probably wouldn't understand what all the fuss is about.

Russian Winnie > other versions of him

He's such a grouchy, selfish ass in that version  The actor who did his voice is probably my favorite Russian actor, and he's definitely one of those guys who always plays the same character in movies - the grouchy bear. Great guy he was.

Bolek and Lolek:D, and I dont know why but Beavis and Butthead is also on the picture...

Do you guys remember any black and white series that used to run in the Bloc?
I know that the Polish series Czterej Pancerni i Pies(Четыре танкиста и собака) was very popular in other countries too. I think that Stawka wiêksza niz ¿ycie with Captain Hans Kloss(J-23) , also was aired in other countries.

It`s about the different attitude of east and west, I think.

In GDR there also was the comic mosaik. Its still there. And now the old issues are even worth something.

Is it possible to find thist stuff at the source? IE: Russia, Eastern Europe?

I just watched the intro to Czterej Pancerni and it looks pretty cool. A friend of mine is going to Belorus at the end of the month, would she have an easy or hard time finding it? I'm sure id be dubbed over but I don't care  I don't understand either language but the fact that they have a dog riding along has to be fun to watch:yep:

According to that website there is a Russian DVD, but it just occured to me it would be in a different reigion than the US :damn:

Shouldn't be a hard time finding it at all, these videos can be found all over Eastern Europe. Actually, if there are any Russian stores nearby, some of them have video rentals, and often they have this stuff, and 4 Tank Men and A Dog are always a favorite.

You can order the Polish version with English subtitles from here http://www.polishfilm.ca/skok/dvds/groups/polish/c/4panc/4panc.html
I would recommend you to watch the original Polish version, and not the dubbed versions.

Yes I am, because vier panzer soldaten und ein hund has been enjoyed by many generations. The series is as popular today, as it was back in commie times during the 60's.

You can order it from this webpage http://www.polishfilm.ca/skok/dvds/groups/polish/c/4panc/4panc.html
(English Subs)

But I would first check some german stores/webpages if they don't have the series there. I am sure that you can buy it for a better price then.
