As we all await the arrival of SH4 next Spring, what graphics cards are we hoping to use with the game? I run the XFX GeForce 7600GT card with a P4 3.0 processor and 1 Gig of RAM. The card is excellent and runs everything I throw at it with no problems.

My rig:
Athlon 64 3000+
1.5GB DDR
GeForce 7600GS 256MB
I bought this video card recently and I'm very happy with it's performance. I have no doubt it will run SHIV nicely.

Will it run shader model 2.0? You'll be dead in the water without 2.0
XFX 7600GT
AMD Athlon 64 3800
2GB RAM (old DDR 400)
Running on an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe.
Not state of the art - but plenty adequate. What I like most about it, is that its as solid as rock (very stable)

I think that might work.
P4, 3.0 Ghz
ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB TV Capture Card/Video Card Combo
1.5 GB DDR RAM, 400 Mhz
I run SHIII pretty well with this setup, although my graphics are not as good as I would like them to be. Hopefully, this will be sufficient for SHIV.:-?

You will be fine for this game... by a HUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS margin. SH4 is going to be a a generation behind some currently released games and two behind some that are coming out in 2007(example: SH4, which is not released is using pixel shader 2.0 compared to TES4: Oblivion which has been out for quite a few months uses pixel shader 3.0), and if my rig can smoke anything out now, yours will definitly be overkill for SH4. But hey overkill is never a bad thing in my book ;)
And even if the game isn't the "best possible" looking, that's fine with me, it still looks great The game's developers have done a GREAT job with the limitations of the technology they are using and as they saying goes "don't break what ain't broken".

AJ,
Nice rig, we all hate you with a passion!!!:rotfl:
AMD,DC64, 4600 2.4 stock
2X1024 DDR400
X850XT 256MB; OCed
SA2z 7.1 (I use 5x1)
3 different SATA drives
19inch 1280x1024 Viewsonic
My 3500SC ran SH3 fine with the above set up but the 4600 smokes it.
This is my game rig and I have another PC with all the regular stuff, Music, email, photos etc etc on so lttle is in my gamer.
I am glad to hear SH4 will be behind as I believe my rig should be good for it and since I will likely go out on Yankee patrols every day for a year by then a new system for 2008 games will be half price or less.
Hope being the word!

P4, 2.8 GHZ W/hyperthread tech ,ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb, 1 GB DDR RAM 400 Mhz. Yeah, I know it's starting to show it's age, but it will handle anything SH3 can throw at it with ease, so I'll hang with it, hopefully through SH4. Besides, I'm too busy wasting money on stuff like rent and groceries to afford a new system.

Looks like we have some users with 'kick ass' systems, but SH4 will run perfectly well on mid range systems. People who were using video cards maxed out with Pixel Shader 1.1 on SH3 will need to upgrade to Pixel Shader 2.0 for SH4.

P4, 3 Ghz, with a FX 5200 card with 128Mb of memory and 768 mb of RAM. It should be able to cope with SHIV, I would love to get some more memory, but the taxman didn't play ball:nope:
I'm stuck with the card as I have a low profile AGP slot, or I have to use an old PCI slot instead. Is there a card out there that has more grunt and can fit into either of the two slots I've listed??? PM me with suggestions and any place where I could find one!
I am planing to up the memory to 2.5 Gb of Ram, so it sould keep me going for awhile!

anyone here with sli run 2 instances of sh3?? i did 1 for each widescreen 1080p lcd monitor. i got sh3 max (obviously) with nvidia settings at max AA and max AF. so enyone here run 2 games at once without any lag?
It will be atleast 12months before I can update my rig:
Asus A8V Deluxe Mobo.
VIA K8T800Pro/VT8237 Chipset
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ CPU
1 gig PC3200 DDR400 ram.
ATI X700 256mb AGP Video Card.
120mb HDD.
So I'm hoping this will run ok, since the Video card is an AGP & not PCIE I doubt a better one would be available in the near future!:-?
My hope is to stick with my GeForce 6800OC until the bitter end, so to say.
By 'bitter end' I mean about another 1.5 years until I get a completely new computer with PCI-E and all that other fancy stuff. I don't see the point in upgrading to another AGP card, and I don't see the sense in upgrading my motherboards/processor/RAM at the moment since they're quite fine otherwise and it would be a huge waste of money for relatively limited gain now.

Following a recent upgrade and donating my old amd xp2800+ / geforce 6800gt / 1gb generic ram machine to SWMBO, after much thought I stuck with AMD...
- Athlon 64 X2 3800+ cpu
- Asus M2N32-sli-dlx nforce590 PCI-E DDR2 (socket AM2) mobo.
- Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TWINX ram.
- Hiper HPU-4M670 TYPE-R 670W ATX2.2 psu.
- Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 10 NCQ 250GB 6V250FO SATAII 16MB CACHE hd and an old 180gb drive as a backup.
- BFG GEFORCE 7950GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/DUAL DVI PCI-E grafix card.
It's not an uber setup, but it does leave me with some room for improvement over the next year or two; i.e more/better RAM, better cpu, that sli thing maybe.
I thought about the conroe intel thing but decided to stick with amd as I'm familiar with their stuff . In total I spent roughly the same amount on this machine as I did almost 4 years ago on my original pc... so I'm happy with that.
With any luck by the time I get around to buying SH4 and actually playing it (I'm suffering from a SH3 revival with TGW at the moment) the new stuff will not be too out of date
But I dare say with the sort of thing going on as viewed here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=100471) I'm going to be **** out of luck anyway  then there's all this DX10 business and vista. I think I'll be staying with XPpro fow a good while yet. Where will it all end?

Since I'm running a 3 year old HP with only 250w,I use the FX5200. I'm not too concerned about the pixel shader since I suspect they will have 1.0 as the minimum spec, and if not I'll figure out a workaround for it.
While I would like to get a new pc,that is impossible right now due to serious health problems in my family. The money is needed for more important things at the moment.

Aye been using the 93.71 drivers as well with my SLI'd 7900gtxs. Have been considering updating to the beta drivers though as they are out. If I end up trying it I'll let you know how they compare performance wise with SH3 and the old drivers.

I ordered and received the system this fall, and the bundle came with on board video. This was fine with all my games, which were six years old. It sucked when I first installed SH3, and I quickly realized I needed a video card. I bought the 1300pro because it was not too expensive. I guess I am wondering how good a card it is??

For SH3 that card should do you alright. At the time that card came out it was at the high end of the entry-level video cards. The card was released late 2005 I think and as a reference SH3 was released March 2005. From the couple reviews that I glanced at about it, it seemed to do fine in Doom 3 and Farcry tests, both which are more strenous(sp) graphically than SH3. SH4 is sort of up in the air still, but since it is based on the same engine as SH3, you should be alright there as well.
As a note: Any of the newer games though, say Oblivion or FSX, will not be able to run at full potential on that card.
EDIT: I would recommend some additional memory. Another gig. Memory can be had for fairly cheap and is worth it.
