Is there a way to increase time compression beyond 1024? It's a long slow trip across the pond even at that speed setting.

yea there is a way. you could download SH3 commander and make the max TC higher

http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches2005.html go here and look below SH3 gen
SH3 commander should be there. then you just download and install and your good to go:up:

Alternatively, if you save enough renown, you can upgrade your vessel with a last generation Timetravel Inc. warp engine which allow you to teleport directly in the place of your choice... Oops think I inserted the wrong CD when launching the game...:oops:

I have always found at real high TC it inceases your chance of CTD so I never normally go above 512
Yes it is a long trip acroos the pond but that pond aint empty you know
Loads of targets in the middle of the atlantic too

Well there would be as its inbetween the start and end ports :rotfl:

:O there are actually enemy ships ? why havent i been told ?.
hmm.........aaa no wonder i havent sunk a single ship in a single of my 8 patrols
my orders are signed by bernard:doh: . they are "sail around in port and throw flowers at the ships docked there"

i gotta have a friendly talk with bernard on my next patrol.

Assuming you've default installed everything, in My Documents will be a SH3 folder. Open the folder inside there called data, then the folder called cfg inside that one.

(C:\Documents and Settings\Albert Hess\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg)

Open the file main.cfg with NOtepad, or other editor. Look for [TIME COMPRESSION] You should see this (although your settings might be different than mine):

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=32
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=1
RadioReport=1
Particles=8
PrayState=8
HunterState=32
3DRender=128
Maximum=1024

Set maximum to 2048 or 4096 if you want to go faster.

As long as we're here :) here are several other settings you might consider changing:

LandProximity: I have mine set at 32, as I got tired of the extremely low default setting. 32 is fast enough to satisfy me when navigating close to shore, but is also slow enough that I have time to go to TC1 if I've mis-navigated and are about to run aground.

EnemyDetected & AirEnemyDetected: I have mine set to 1; better safe than sorry!;)

Thanks, I'll give the config file change a try.

As BBW said in his post a higher TC you might have a bigger chance off a CTD. But if you warp across the pond at a really high TC you will more than likely miss out on alot of contacts that you might have other wise come across.

Thanks so much for posting this.

I have been wanting to slow time to "normal" time when a plance or ship is spotted.
Hated running at 256 and a contact is reported. and before I can set time to 1 I have missed several minutes already.

Thanks alot. :up:

btw. I changed some things to what I like better. But can I change the timer to go to 1 or "normal" when I get a target reported to me? as it is now I get a location dotted on the map, and before I can press slower speed several minutes have passed or even more if I run on 500 time compression.

What do I change to make it go to 1 when a target is reported to me? can it be done?

I'm pretty sure you can change this. I know that I want time compression at ONE any time I get a nearby contact report, spot something on the hydrophone, or spot a ship.

Particularly since I often do the atlantic voyage tasked out, if my guys spot a ship it gives me time to react properly if it happened a minute ago without me seeing it.

I believe that's the "Radio Report" setting. Could be wrong though.

You can change TC setttings for a number of triggers when using SH3Commander.

Unfortunately, no.

I've already asked in the past, and have been told that that's a 'hard-code' problem. There are radio reports that will drop you to TC1, yes. Those are the ones your radio operator reports to you. But (for whatever reason known only to the designers) contact reports, regardless of also being radio reports, will not effect your TC at all.
