Is this the work of Greywolves, or Spysat. i enabled Spysat in last patrol and came across this convoy with taskforce and no escorts, i know Spysat mod is just to show convoys on the map, so it must be GW or its just SH3 generating taskforces into convoys every now and then:hmm: Well when i realised what was ahead of me i couldn't believe my luck. So far have sunk the fleet carrier, and because theres no escorts to harrass me im beneath the convoy tailing it while waiting to reload. (2 carriers, 3 battlships and many many tankers!!):) BTW This convoy comes from HAlifax heads down to CB26 then makes a left and heads north (Yr May 1942)

It might be the spysat, as one of the versions changes something in the file structure. I dont know what, but danlisa smacked me on the fingers for using the wrong one. :D

Kiwi, that is a direct result of the Spy Sat Mod.

The 'original' Spy Sat' works off the Stock 1.4b RND layer and as such if you enable this over GW 1.1a it will overwrite GW's RND.

Spy Sat for any Mod is fairly easy to make.

Copy the Campaign.RND & open the RND in mission editor, in the explorer on the right of the screen find all the Convoy entries (ex. HX39Convoy) right click on it and choose Group Properties. In the bottom of this box you will find the entries Contact Automatic Report(min) & Probablity(%).

Change the Contact Report to something of your choosing (i.e 60mins) & change the Probabilty to 100%

This will mean that all convoys (that were loaded) will reported every 60 mins of game time. Note - you can change the probablity of SH3 loading a random unit in the same group properties box.

Now to enable a 'global' view, you need to edit the Contacts.cfg file. Something like this...
Display Range To Opportunity Radio Contacts=99999
Display Range To Important Radio Contacts=99999

These figures are in Km.

Now, if you are going to do this, I suggest that you copy both files and when done make them JSGME ready. The SPY SAT is a novelty and quickly wears off, this way you can just disable it.

Did you make this mod, its good for those like myself that want a quick patrol every now and then. Seems to work well with GW - meaning no crashes. For those that haven't tried it and dont mind seeing all convoys showing on your map then SpySat works - taskforce garanteed!:D

No, I didn't make the original. I just used the same idea to make mine GW compatible.

Any chance of a link to the GW version dan?...my lad wants to start playing and I'd rather he learnt on GW as opposed to vanilla in preparation for GWX (and no! :nope: he has not been allowed on my beta version of GWX in case that's what anyone might be thinking lol) :D :up:

under SH3 mods (general mods) on the left menu on the main page go to "Content" then "Download Centre" then sh3 mods. Theirs a lite version which i use and a original version with very heavy traffic.

EDIT: Or just wait for Danlisa to put his up.

This version is GW 1.1a Compatible & JSGME Ready. All convoys will be reported every 60mins game time (the original was updated every 1min) so with this version you will still have to plan your approach etc.

There is also an Aux crusier in the convoy as well. When aproaching the convoy front on, it is in the line of ships to the left of the battleships (same as the bouge carrier, but the bouge doesn't appear untill later in the war) at the back of the convoy.

The 1.4 ready means that it is designed for Stock 1.4b.

Burning question are you using a supermod?

no, not as yet. i tried GW and my system became "the Jerk" so i tried NYGM i played one and then i haven't tried since to be fair. i've yet to try WAce
its mostly stock, i'm using SH3commander and a couple of mods for things like BWG and flags, some sounds lifted from GW etc. thats about it.

got to say having tried the 1.4b spysat last night i couldn't believe just how many convoys there were, and why the hell i hadn't come accross them much before now. i think i'm actually going to turn it off and see what i can get coming out of gibralter as i've just been ordered to St Nazaire.
