Franklin Roosevelt was US president during WWII. Theodore Roosevelt was president from 1901-1909, and died in 1919-twenty years before the start of WWII.

In any case , Bernard is the l337 h4xx0r , with 10 votes, he's nearly unstoppable.
Judging from the polls so far, it is only fair that Bernard be declared "King of the World" , with so many ppl ready to die for him.

Being American it would have to be FDR. BTW I knew that is what you meant when you put Teddy up there!

Leaned Churchill and Doenitz however! I threw a hand up in front of their bullets!

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill of course! (look at my sign;)

That ol' coot really deserves our respect. He was never afraid during the war, the only thing that scared him was the U-boat peril (and who can blame him:up: )

He also said this once, and this proves that he was clever too!

Churchill-Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?
-Socialite: My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course...
-Churchill: Would you sleep with me for five pounds?
-Socialite: Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!
-Churchill: Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.

Here we go again. That Churchill "quote" was almost certainly not said by Churchill, but by George Bernard Shaw. If it was said by Churchill, it was not to some "socialite", but to his legendary foil Lady Astor. Here are a couple of just as funny, but provable, exchanges between Sir Winston and women:

Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.”
Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”
Nancy Astor: “Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.”
Churchill: “If I were your husband I would take it.”

hehe, yeah Winston did say some good stuff....but he did also say some things that I think was quite "beatiful".

-I am prepared to meet my maker; whether my maker is prepared to meet me is entirely another matter.

-We will not say thereafter that the Greeks fight like heroes, but heroes fight like the Greeks! (his statement after the greek victory aganst the invading Italian forces.)

-If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.

-When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite.

hoho, ol' Winston did say some clever stuff during his year as a cigar-smoking lad.

I wouldn't take a bullet for any of those listed. This said, if I had been born 80 or so years ago, I would have very much liked to have been within shooting range of Hitler.

Personally, I think a better poll question would be something like this:

"Imagine that you are magically transported to August 31, 1939: The day before Germany launches its attack on Poland. You have a finely tuned 1911A1 .45ACP, but you only have three (3) cartridges. You're have a teleportation device that can take you anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye, but after you fire three rounds, you're taken back to the present time (unless you're stupid enough to shoot your parents/grandparents, because you then disappear). You're not allowed to use any other weapons. Who would you shoot and why?"

I wouldn't shoot anyone and get straight back to the future ASAP! Who knows what I could screw up.
If I wanted to shoot Hitler, I'd then have to choose between preventing WW2 and the Holocaust, or my whole extended family, who would never had been born had the war not taken place.

I voted for Roosevelt. FDR of course,Since Teddy was a hunter he could look after himself...plus he was supposedly a damn good shot so he would probably be able to take out the shooter before the shooter even had a chance to fire.

Doenitz was the enemy,no way in hell I'd take a bullet for a Nazi.

Churchill...Let the brits take the bullet...

Hitler...forget a bullet,he deserved to be taken out to see and fed alive to sharks. And anyone who would take a bullet for him should be removed from the gene pool.

Bernard...He's indestructible so bullets would magically miss him and kill everybody else...:rotfl:

Except that the mods can ban whomever they like, and do not have to answer for doing so. If they were going to press charges, entrapment would apply, but not banning.
