hmmm.
my last patrol:hmm:

aaa it was a dark and stormy night. no wait it was a bright and sunny day
i decided to leave my port (:o you actually left port ?) and take a sail around denmark after a few hours my watch crew spotted a merchant. as usual i didn bother checking the flag but i just looked one time at the ship to make sure it wasnt german. it was a little danish merchant after 2 minutes of thinking about if i should attack it or just let it live
i decided to fire 2 torps at it. after 1.5 minutes of waiting the first torp hit closley followed by the second. the ship split in 2 and went for the bottom:arrgh!: .........what a sight
after that i decided to sail to kiel and dock there
the END.

last patrol i was assigned to a grid off lands end. it was a stormy couple of days so thankfully no RAF cover (its 1940) after it calmed a little i found a couple of small merchants and sank them with my deck gun, i also took a tug boat and a fishing trawler that decided to wanter accross my path. no fish and chips for churchill's dinner eh?
i came accross a C3 and a T2 all alone. i couldn't resist. Two eals sent the C3 to the bottom in flame after her back broke and one lone electric torp sent the tanker to the bottom after i hit her under her Keel just abaft the main bridge. she went up like she was packed with TNT! set the horizon aglow for a few minutes thats for sure.
heading home later on i took a lone flower class that didn't even spot me until it was too late, but as the weather cleared we came under attack by the damned RAF, a mosquito landed a lucky shot on my conning tower killing my first officer Otto and my Flak gunner Jergen, both had been with me since we first sailed and their loss we heavily felt. both good men who together had seen off some hurricanes near dover one time, they both earned the cross for that action.

we buried them at sea with full honours the damned RAF at least giving us time to do that.

That's nice an easy.

Death from crashing in to land, reason the rudder was smashed could only travel in a straight line. :damn:

But I can see the funny side of it.

It was a few days ago for those who missed it :

The end went fine, except for a couple of plane attacks going around Scotland, and got back home in Wilhelmshaven with 44.000 t on the log. Sub is being refitted at the moment for next patrol... and I am flying IL2 in the meantime until it's ready.

I was ordered to greenland to intercept The battleship HMS Ramses . Near Rekivak m about 250 km , I was Given a report of a large convoy heading NE at 7 Knts . I was already picking up radar singnals . So I plotted a intercept point and caculated it too arrive 2.5 hours . Wow So Lucky Not a 8 Hour trip . Low and behold after 2.5 Hours contact Flower corvette heading 343 long range . So I started caculating his bearing and than spotted the first ship of the convoy . I measured the distance from the lead ship to my bearing confirmed that he was heading 45 degress . I than scanned for the last ship in the collum His bearing showed after making that it confirmed that the convoy was on a true heading of 45 degrees . So Started setting up to intercept the convoy so I could get the best shot on the AOB . But i was still 14000Meters away . My mistake in the exceitment I rushed right for the lead ship with a AOB 135 . .. Bad Mistake . One the corvettes picked me up and started heading straight for me . He was 6000 meters away . So I dived too :ping: 25 meters and listened to my sonor guy , After 3:15 sec . the bearing on the corvette sounded like he was heading away . so instead of breaking of the run I stayed at 25 meters . after an hour batterys going low and the convoy heading off . I turned course and caulated that I could be better off running on the surface , while I flanked the convoy , Remind you That I was 13000Metres from them , except since It was dark The corvette was about 8000 Meters away .. To Be continued ...

Having a fit PC just since few days, I'm a real beginner with SHIII; best thing to say about that, is that I was able to buy the sim at bargain price.

Well, have a laugh with my newbie's experiences.

First patrol.
As usual for an AOD player, I plotted a course to patrol area and went on the bridge to look around.
Just the time to say "wow, what a nice harbour" and my sub was lost, all hands, by crash test against said nice harbour.

Second patrol.
No problem in leaving the harbour, by a mix of hand made navigation and plotted course, NOW on max zoom.
Less than 48 hours later the captain committed suicide, having sunk a german merchant; you know, a red flag in AOD is always a target...

Third patrol.
A suspicious captain was able to leave the harbour, make a perfect navigation to patrol area, inside patrol area and back to Kiel; none ship engaged, by total confusion about right identification; several torpedoes launched by mistake, when trying to stop time compression pressing enter (hard to change old habits)
This one then survived ten patrols, getting the diamonds; unfortunately, the percent of stupidly lost torpedoes decreased very slowly.
