Forget no-fly lists. If Uncle Sam gets its way, beginning on Jan. 14,
2007, we'll all be on no-fly lists, unless the government gives us
permission to leave-or re-enter-the United States.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (HSA) has proposed that all
airlines, cruise lines-even fishing boats-be required to obtain
clearance for each passenger they propose taking into or out of the
United States.

It doesn't matter if you have a U.S. Passport - a "travel document"
that now, absent a court order to the contrary, gives you a virtually
unqualified right to enter or leave the United States, any time you
want. When the DHS system comes into effect next January, if the
agency says "no" to a clearance request, or doesn't answer the
request at all, you won't be permitted to enter-or leave-the United
States.

What with the Dollar diving against most of the major currencies, a lot of Americans won't be able to afford to travel.

Seems the terrorists will soon have their way and not even make another attack on American soil.
Isn't it what they want?
Total control of Free people.
All the terrorists need really do is sit back and watch us succumb to fear.

I could go on but ... Why?

Ouch.
Sounds very 'soviet' in its intention :o "land of the shackled, home of the timid"
Oh well, at least you guys over the pond will have you guns if not your freedom... no wait, isn't that meant to be the same thing, sort of?

Well, if it comes to that it's a breach of basic human rights. And if I couldn't leave or escape, I'd fight.

Hmm, decades ago when I recrossed back into the U.S. from Canada each passenger in the car was asked where he was born and full name. Border Patrol agent looked up each of our names on a computer (kinda helped since we were active duty military).
At least the Border Patrol on the northern end is doing a good job...

Can we get American Reality TV shows on this list aas fast as possible? It would be great if they stopped showing them on our TV. (Yes I DO use the remote to change channels, it's just hard when there are 5 of them on at the same time in a place that gets 5 stations and don't get me started on Pay TV).

Put Paris Hilton and anyone she's slept with on the list also!:D

Maybe they are...but that has nothing to do with this travel visa proposal.

This issue has to do with documented travellers to the US. The article is in error in at least one respect. Administrative law is overseen by administrative courts. The administrative courts are subject to review by SCOTUS.

The U.S. Supreme Court has long recognized there is a constitutional
right to travel internationally. Indeed, it has declared that the
right to travel is "a virtually unconditional personal right."

The arcticle is little more than fear mongering for the tin-foil hat crowd.

Berlin Wall. Washington District-of-Columbia Wall.

Don't secure the borders because it'll drive prices up at Walmart and the economy will take a dive. Just keep imposing more restrictions on all the people who should have the least amount of restictions, due to their citizenship.

I am beginning to understand the term "neo-conservative", and I still think it is a misnomer. It should be "Corruptocrat". Corporation (via lobbists), corruption, bureaucrat. There is nothing conservative, or new, about a neo-con.

It doesn't matter whose in office or what government is in power...if the people do not care or are scared for what ever reason to stop living free and sacrificing[yes the giving of whats most important]to remain free then don't complain when you cant leave your government owned housing project or buy what you want a Walmart or standing in a government run bread line for your rations or sit at your computer typing what you want to type
