I posted this in another, rather controversial, thread, so some people might've missed it. I've been having intermittent problems with some saved games... the one where you reload the game, just to get past the "initializing" screen, and then watch as your boat heads to the ocean floor at high speed.
After loading this corrupted game a couple times, then rebooting the computer, etc., I was just about to give up. After running out of options, I loaded the game, and waited until the boat was sitting on the bottom of the ocean. Then I saved the game, exited to the main menu, and reloaded it. Yeah, that didn't work... SH3 locked up, and Windows refused to do anything about it.
A reboot later, I gave up temporarily. Walked away from SH3, took a breather, and started thinking about the problem. Started wondering if there was a problem with the boat's bouyancy. Wondered if high seas might have something to do with it. So I fired up SH3Weather, and changed it to July (I haved previously selected September when I first started the career). Then I opened SH3Commander... then opened up the original corrupted save.
And it worked. I've continued to play off the same career for a bit, and haven't run into it again to confirm a workaround for it.
So the next time that someone runs across this particular bug, mind exiting SH3, changing the weather with SH3Weather, and then reloading the game? Sure would be nice if someone could corroborate.
