View Full Version : Something missing about radar/sonar/etc

When you see enemy ships, it indicates their sight radius, and in the case of escorts, their ASDIC, hydrophones, and also radar I believe (there are many of those rings/cones). While this is useful to use to stay in their blind spots, Ubisoft seems to have missed something that would also be useful-

Why not have YOUR SUB have these rings?! So that you can see how far out your watch crew will see, where you radar is covering, where your hydrophone is covering and how far on the map, etc. It would help greatly for searching for enemy ships, and in the case of radar, let you know how much of a radar signature you are giving off.

Imho, the best tools for finding ships are your Mk1 ears, preferably with good headphones in a quiet room, around 20m deep and all engines stopped...;) By good weather, you can count on hearing props up to 15 klicks.
I don't remember seeing these rings, but I barely played stock game, jumped right away in RuB mode.

I turn those things off on the map, as they are totally "ahistorical" (was gonna say unrealistic).

Frankly I don't really care about the ones on the enemy ships (since I can't tell which are which in terms of radar/sonar/hydrophone/etc). What I want is to have those on MY SUB so I can see on the map just how far out my sensors extend.
