Restart career from save after sunk

After dc'd and sunk, reloaded in-game (ie did not exit game ... running SH3Cmdr and GW), played a while, then saved and exited. Later, on restarting from SH3Cmdr, there were no save games in career.

Seems to me I've restarted ok before in this situation, is it maybe the save game glitch rearing its ugly head?

When you load a game all other saved games AFTER the one you load disappear. It's one of the 'issues' of SH3 unfortunatelly.

Right, but here I was just looking to reload a save which should have been there. I had eg save1, save2 (auto-dead). I reloaded save1 ingame which should have wiped out save2, then I saved again prior exiting the game to give me (call it) save3. But when I restarted from sh3cmdr, there was nothing there at all.

I NEVER do this. That's cheating in my book. :D

If my ship goes down. I give the crew honors, a brief ceremony (usually started with curses and expletives), and let the crew rest in peace. Then I start a new career.
