Not the first SAM but the first IDAS SAM (optical guided by wire)

The British had a system that was raised like a periscope. It was based on the Shorts Blowpipe SAM. It was tested on HMS Aeneas in 1972.

Ther was little interest, and some drawbacks to the system as well, so it was droped
