Heh, my favourite particular coverage of this was the Daily Mails headline 'KGB poison man in London sushi bar.' then they go on to admit in a later paragraph that it's actually the FSB now, rather than the KGB.

It's possible the FSB has something to do with this, let's face it, there's been a few suspicious poisonings and it's not that difficult to remember the allegations that Yushchenko was poisoned during his election campaign in the Ukraine, then there was the shooting of Anna Politkovskaya which was rather suspicious...but...that's not automatically a reason for the FSB to be involved.

The Kremlin has denyed the claims (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6165836.stm) but that really means nothing as you're not exactly going to admit that your security agents poisoned a defector in the middle of an 'allied' city. But...it seems that Mr Litvinenko has upset more than just the FSB, it's emerged, apparently, that a petrol bomb was thrown at his house in October 2004 which damaged the property....this is hardly the actions of a highly trained security organisation! But...admittedly, one cannot clearly rule out FSB involvement, especially considering the nature of the attack...and if this guy IS right...and it is proved so, that's going to put Russian/British relations back somewhat, especially at a time where Russia is being becoming more aggressive in its foreign policies...one only has to look at the whole Georgian debacle that is still running to this day...and one hidden fact I noticed in that BBC article...Mr Litvinenko has alleged that the FSB arranged the 1999 Moscow bombings, the springboard for the campaign against Chechnya...in a way, this is a little like alleging that the CIA destroyed the Twin Towers...which is a common conspiracy theory...but are him and Politkovskaya on to something?

There's definately something rotten at the core of the Rodina...but one mans rotten is another mans way of survival, perhaps Chechnya was Putins Falkland Islands? Who can say, things that go on in cloak and dagger circles rarely stay long in the limelight.

Phew, that's a long ramble...think I'll go lie down now...
