Hello all, I'm in carrear mode, ordered to patrol AK47 but
after 4 tries haven't even got there yet! I run slow and deep
during daylight and surface at night to re-charge and make some
progress to my patrol zone. I'm lucky to run 2 hours before
several aircraft launch attacks. How are they finding me in the
middle of the damm ocean at night!! I thought airborne radar
did not come until late 44 not feb 43. Is it best to just crash-
dive or try to duke it out on the surface? I usually dive but last
time the first volly of bombs hit me dead center, game over.
any hints or suggestions would be greatly app...

Yeah, what you seem to be experiencing there my friend is a bug. I suggest waiting 'til GWX comes out and then installing that or, install Serg's new aircraft MOD.

I dont know , i just started a new career with TGW1.1a in 1943 and havnt seen 1 aircraft . Plotted my course to be way off the coastline, only surface at night, dont radio any patrol reports in, turn the radar off. Only use if i am in heavy fog . Hope this helps.

I concur with that. Anything higher than 256 TC and you'll miss the aircraft. Having said that I haven't seen an aircraft for some time (October 1940).

Don't go near the British and you'll be fine!

Not only can you miss them, but by the time you detect them, they're almost on top of you. At a slower TC, you should normally detect them at a greater distance, giving you more time to react.

I know it takes forever to get somewhere that way, but it's the price you pay for a little extra security. :)

Incidentally, aircraft with radar appeared as early as 1941, I think. No doubt someone will check an exact date of the first reported sinking of a submarine by an aircraft using radar to facilitate it.
