:hmm: I downloaded the file and had a listen. All I know is that it is not in my collection. I'm sure that it is used in one of the history DVD's I have at home being either from "The Nazi: A Warning from History" or from the BBC doco "Auschwitz: The Nazis & the Final Solution." Sorry I can't be of any more use than that. I'd be very surprised if that is Bach because I have over 30 J S Bach CD's alone along with a few from his sons but I'm prepared for a shock if anyone knows.

Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod or Bach's Prelude No.1 from the Well Tempered Clavier? Random Google search, definitely not the best of it:

http://www.uniquetracks.com/cd/CC2.html - Ave Maria

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NigkN0qCo48 - Prelude #1

If you like this one, try searching for a good Piano or Harp version of Schubert's [Ave Maria] with a testosterone-free kiddie singing, or your favourite female adult Soprano. I prefer the Sopranos but Pavarotti makes an impressive performance nonetheless. Don't know of any Violin version of it, get a cup of coffee and hit Google Xabby.

A bit light weight for me but it was nice.

While we are on the classical music issue I'm just wondering how many of you folks from the U.K. heard the sad news this year of the death of Sir Malcolm Ardnold, I think he was well into his 90's so that a good innings.

Not an answer but a suggestion. Have you tried IMDB.com? It's a pretty comprehensive site. In this case, the entry itself for each of the films you mention lack any description of the music used on the soundtrack. However, there are message boards for each, and queries about the music appear on the boards for each. Perhaps they hold your answer.

I don't think that helps Xabb out with his question.

Does anyone have any idea about the classical piece of music in question? I'm stumped. :-?

Ave Maria by J.S. Bach

Just one of many variants.

Great song. Theirs many meanings to the song noone really knows i suppose except the songwriter. One is its a reference to the death of a number of people when a dance floor collapsed in France during the 60's. Another is its about the Titanic.

Or cause it was the 60's its just an LSD induce song - he was just out of it when he wrote it. :hmm:
