What does everyone know about the new DX10 coming out? I guess we have to start begging, borrowing or stealing to get a card to support it? We do not have to go to DX10 for now I guess but in the near future we will be forced into it?:nope:

I doubt game makers would force you to use it and alienate all their customer base on DX9 and Windows XP. MS may try and use it to force you onto WIndows Vista, but in the end I think they will lose. Expect a DX10 upgrade for XP because of it.

I forgot about Vista coming out. I hear it will not be ready for Christmas and they will not send it out untested and poor computer sales for Christmas. XP will be around for a good while I suppose.

I think I'm going to hold off on Vista till mid next year. I hope Subman is right on the Dx upgrade for XP. :yep:

I'm sure Xp will be supported for at least the next 4 years. Windows 98 was just left unsupport what, a year ago?

I stick to XP, dont have the money for vista and I feel no need for MS poking around on my PC in new ways......

I heard rumors about ''Pirated/Unactivated'' users of XP getting a big smack in the face. because besides vista, you better have a original version of XP because the rumor is about that when Vista is out the pirated versions of XP will be having a hard time to get the system to start up as it will shut down at the login screen:doh:

is this true?

and I,m about to buy a new PC with Graphic card thats ready for DX10:rock:

I guess it could be true. But if you are able to update pirated versions via M$ site I do not know how they would be able to tell if your version if pirated.

DX10 is not compatible w/ XP. There will be no d/l for DX10. :o

We all have to suffer w/ DX9 for the moment.:)

I was actually pretty amazed to see that the price isnt sky high on the GF8800. The tag I saw the other day was $599, whereas new DX9 cards have the price tagged to ~$450-$500.

I usually pay no more than $150.00 for cards. These are usually the cards that were the best at one time and now are sold off cheap because something else is out and at a bigger price tag. Currently I have the 6200OC-256MB Nvidia card. I'm happy with it. Anyway, no GF8800 for me at $599.00, my wife would string me up!!! I feed my wife and kids on that money for a month;). Basically DX10 will be a Vista based program. OK, fine by me as I like XP and I'm sure my current CPU will be on my desk for a few years to come.
