Hi,
I just got a new Dell 5150 with a Pentium D 820 and an onboard Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950. This game runs well except on the bridge where it is pretty chunky. Can anu hardware types recommend a decent video card which won't break the bank??

Hello
ideally you need a 128MB card for the game. I don't know which ones are good, but I guess any NVIDIA should do. Obviously the larger the memory the better the results, but I can understand that sometimes they can get a bit pricy.
nVidia 6800 series and 7600 GS are really cheap right now, and they run the game (and GW) well.

Man, that's even more harccore than the TI-82 graphing calculator I play on.
And back on topic, I'd check out pricewatch.com to see who's got good deals on video cards right now. I imagine there'd be some pretty good holiday sales on.

Electric typewriters and water dont mix. You seem to have 16x PCIe so I would so as mookie said and check out pricewatch.com. Anything in your price range that suppports 16x PCIe will no doubt be better than the on board video. Maybe if you gave us a dollar amount we could narrow it down a bit for you.

How big is your bank? A 7600GS/GT would run SH3 comfortably.

Check the slots you have on the motherboard. My roommate got a deal on a dell so he bought it and wanted to put a video card in it to play bf2. Unfortunally, the mobo only has a pcie x1 slot (the really short ones) which limited him to the only graphics card made for pcie x1, a ati x1300.

I have a line on either a 256mb Geforce nvidia 7300 GS or a ATI X1600pro 512 mb, I'll probably be going with the ATI card

Many Dells come with the built in cards, and not onboard video as an option. I bought a package that did not have the option of the video card.
