Seems that pirating games may take away from one industry, and feeds it to another!

Well if you tale the risk of modding the xbox, you can say farewell to xbox live.
And xbox live is one the reasons if not the reason to get an xbox.

Maybe for some, but I'd leave online play to my computer. I'm sure I am not alone in that idea either. When I play a consol game, the only real multiplayer I care about is if I have other friends in the room at the same time. Other than that, multiplay for the console is next to none. That reminds me though - i haven't even bothered to hook up the GC since I moved not long ago. Might be a good project for today.

That doesn't make the mod more secure.
In fact all the new consoles have automatic firmware upgrading not only through online but through the game disks themselves.
To say that multiplay for the console is next to none, you must not have tried xbox live.
Playing on xbox live is not like playing multiplayer on the pc (the playstation online experiece is much more pc-like than the xbox live will ever be).
