Rediculous, plus I'm not forking out $500-$600. I'd take that money and get a second video card for my PC, where the real action is at. :yep:

What fredbass said.

I have a PS2, it's been eating dust ever since I bought it. I've played more PS1 games on it than PS2 games. Pathetic. :-? :88) :dead:

I also have a Nintendo 64, remember that? (and a Sega Genesis, and a NES, and a SuperNES and one of the Atari models). Now that was a great console because it was pretty much geared at multiplayer, it perfected what the SuperNES failed to fulfil due to primitive hardware. Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Goldeneye 64 etc. etc. etc.

Spent many hours on it with adults and young-uns alike. Loads of fun. Never got the Gamecube, didn't had time for it. Probably missed a ton of fun but let's see if I can get on the Wii thing, that's very promising. Nintendo has focused on multiplayer since the NES, hopefully the Wii isn't any different.

PS3? No thanks. I'll buy one to play a few RPG games, the next Grand Turismo and one or two other games after it becomes cheap like the PS2 is today. With the exceptions mentioned here, and they are exceptions only because nobody is smart enough to make a multiplayer RPG like Secrets of Mana, the flood of singleplayer games is still not worth it, at least not at release price.

Sure, there will be many great games for the PS3, of course, and there were great singleplayer games on the N64 and on the Gamecube aswell. And if I were a kid I'd love to have one and play every single game out there.

But I'm not and I need to upgrade my battle-hardened veteran PC as only the PC can provide long-term singleplayer gameplay. I'm playing X-Com to this date but not Sonic the Hedgehog. The value of consoles lies in the live multiplayer, gathering people to spend the day, dusk or night playing it. This was never PS2's forte, I wonder if PS3 will be any better. And before you say NFL2007/6/5/4/3/2/1/0, well, that game and other multiplayer sports games are available on the PC aswell, where you can crank up settings to get unbelievable graphics and just connect your vid card to your TV, buy some good gamepads and you have an experience equal to the PS2/3 but with better graphics, customization, modding, etc. So I exclude from previous comparisons any game also available on the PC.

The Majority of those who buy consoles are either Japanese, Kiddie wannabe Progamers and people who can't use thier PC without Screwing it up.

Personal Computer is the 1337 Gaming Platform. Multiplayer is also strongest on PC. Don't tell me that Consoles would be better. Really Complicated Games like Red Orchestra just can't be played with this crappy "Controlers" (And my fingers are to spastic for it). And the Xbox version of CS sucks.

There is only one game i would like to play wich is only on console: MGS 3. I have 1 and 2 on my PC, and as it seems there won't be a PC version of the third part.

So, what tthefabob said is correct.

I was working at Wal-Mart last year when the X-Box 360 was released. We only got four at our store. At midnight I heard one customer complain "I've been standing here since six o'clock and I'm not getting one?" The manager replied "I'm sorry, but the people who got them have been here since six o'clock THIS MORNING!"

That's something I forgot to mention on my post. Indeed, realistic games only exist for the PC.

I don't know. The effects of giant hovering mushrooms are pretty accurately modeled in Super Mario Brothers. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to get back in line before someone moves my lawn chair.

Yep, I dont understand them, first of all. its a bloody expensive thing, actually I dont understand people's addiction with Consoles, they are a waste of money when you think of that an PC can do it all and is always on upgrade. the games suck as well because of the fact the gameplay is tottaly screwed (especially in FPS games)

the marketing is also a money screwer. they have a new Console!!! yipeee. 3 till 4 years later they have a new one. you have to buy that crap all over again, Gamepads(Nintendo like), Sometimes they dont allow older games to run on it (Also nintendo like they change the type of Game Discs), and the same games you have on the PC are expensiver then. for example Formula 2006 for PC 45€ , same game on PS2 +-60€.

So to make it short, you're wasting to much money and time.

I'd buy a PSP if I could find an earlier version of it that was hackable.

That's the joy of getting one on release. News is, that the ta082 motherboard is being updated soon too. Still, once they bring out new firmwares, anything is possible.
