Please don't forget people to buy a poppy and if possible make an additional donation to the Royal British Legion as this Saturday is Armistace Day. Direct donations to the Royal British Legion can be made here:
http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/
Also try to take the time out to observe the 2 minutes silence 11am this Saturday being it the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. :yep: :yep:
Back home in Australia as a teenager I would often help and work with my Pa (Grandfather) who is a 'Legatee' for the Legacy organisation which is a nationwide charity group that helps and supports war widows and their families. I'm sure most countries have similar charity organisations because most governemnts don't do enough in support of war widows/families.

Anyway, I'd just thought that I would remind people.
George: So we are, in fact, going over. This is, as they say, it.
Edmund: I'm afraid so, unless I think of something very quickly.
Voice: Company, one pace forward!
(everyone steps forward)
Baldrick: Ooh, there's a nasty splinter on that ladder, sir! A bloke could
hurt himself on that.
Voice: Stand ready!
(everyone puts a foot forward)
Baldrick: I have a plan, sir.
Edmund: Really, Baldrick? A cunning and subtle one?
Baldrick: Yes, sir.
Edmund: As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning
at Oxford University?
Baldrick: Yes, sir.
Voice: On the signal, company will advance!
Edmund: Well, I'm afraid it'll have to wait. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was
better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad.
I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?
(whistle blows)
Edmund: Good luck, everyone. (blows his whistle)
(Everyone yells as they go over the top. German guns fire before
they're even off the ladders. The scene changes to slow motion,
and explosions happen all around them. [An echoed piano slowly plays
the Blackadder theme.] The smoke and flying earth begins to obscure
vision as the view changes to the battlefield moments later: empty
and silent with barbed wire, guns and bodies strewn across it. [A
bass drum beats slowly.] That view in turn changes to the same field
as it is today: overgrown with grasses and flowers, peaceful, with
chirping birds.)

I bought a pin for my fiance and myself here in Australia, ANZAC day, the 25th of April, is the main rememberance day here. We are down to our final WW1 vet (he didn't serve overseas, he wa a radio operator here in Australia for the war, the last vet who served overseas (France) passed away in 2005). The last ANZAC who fought in Gallipoli passed away in 2002.

I don't know if the nearest British embassy or consular mission sells these things over here, but I've decided to go ahead and make a donation through the website just because of the protests against them. Backfired.
I finally found a poppy stool today and now I am wearing my one.

Diver,
Yes mate I am. I'm sorry that you felt the need to quesion my nationality. I could tell you that I lived at North Styne, Manly Beach, Sydney for many years and back then when I did drink my favourite local tap beer was Reschs. I supported the Manly Sea Eagles rugby side during that time before changing to the Melbourne Storm when they came into he comp many years ago. By birth I am a Vic and have been a life time supporter of the Geelong Cats in the AFL. Anyway I hope that will suffice.
Back to the topic. Over here in the UK it is called Armistace Day and I have been living here for over a few years now. We just observed the 2 minutes silence in the last 10 minutes. I have to say that I prefer what we call it back home Rememberance day.
