What depth are you guys setting when using this weapon...is it better to use a shallower depth and set for impact since it uses the ladder pattern? Just wondering....

It's really impossible to set them to magnetic impact (is that possible at all?) because you never know what it could hit on its pattern.

I always set the depth to the lowest score, to be sure that i hit something.. When firing at a convoy, i hope the FAT will cripple the ship or even better sink it. If the ship is crippled and dead in the water, i'll wait for the escorts to disappear, then i give her the deathblow. :yep:

Usually I set them to 3m with an impact pistol. Most ships do have a keel depth that's more than 3m so I find this setting acceptable.

I was experimenting with the magnetic pistol I guess because I am unsure of when it starts the ladder pattern.....in other words how far will it go in a straight line before diverging on its pattern....anyone know??

Take a look in here:

I think if you shoot by auto targetting, then it will start the pattern after the distance viewed at target, but I'm not positive.

If you press the the little button above the tube you have the Fat in (in F6 screen) you get the settings for initial run an the pattern angle etc. The first ones do not allow you to change all settings but the later ones will. Inc. the magnetic/impact setting.
