When does a single mission end?

I have tried the Courageus? mission, and I understood by myself the 3 times the boat started to sink and I couldn't get it leveled or rising again. 42 good men died in vain.

But the last time I managed to sink the carrier and escape alive, I sailed until nightfall towards land, but How do I know I am finished if I make it?
