It's been quite some time and i decided to reinstall SH3 again. installed sh3, installed latest patch (1.4b) and then installed the latest Gray Wolves mod.
everything worked great and the only thing left was somehow increasing the screen resolution. On my search for a solution i found Kegetys d3d9.dll and decided to give it a go. i saw that it was recommended to use the application compatibility toolkit from MS but decided to try it without...
to my surprise it worked like a charm: the game looked much better @ 1280x1024 than before and the framerates were excellent. the next thing i wanted to try was increasing the level of AA but it seems that this doesn't work with the replacement dll?

anybody else have a similar experience to mine? no working AA with the dll? able to use the dll without the compatibility toolkit? or is the lack of AA because i didn't use it?

Have you tried running your AA from your video card drivers rather than in game? That's how I do it.

Doesn't shift+pgup and shift+pgdn change the AA on the fly in SH3?

Give that a shot and see what happens.

i tried that but it doesn't change the AA level but rather turns on some kind of bloom postprocess filter. it does blur things a bit overall but depending on whats on sceen it can make aliasing even worse imho.

thats what i've been doing thus far and until i installed the dll it worked just fine (how Do you change the AA level ingame btw? i'm not talking about the bloom gewehr mentioned). you gave me an idea however: i tried changing the AA level with the ATI Tray Tools and viola! - it worked :) unfortunately AA seems to be turned off as soon as you turn on the bloom with SHIFT+PGUP... thats an engine limitation though i think since there are a few games that have problems with bloom and AA... however if anybody knows a workaround lets hear it :)
