You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.
Our intention behind the original terms was genuinely geared toward combating piracy; however, it’s become clear to us that those original terms were perceived as adversely affecting an important group of customers: PC and hardware enthusiasts. You who comprise the enthusiast market are vital to us for several reasons, not least of all because of the support you’ve provided us throughout the development of Windows Vista. We respect the time and expense you go to in customizing, building and rebuilding your hardware and we heard you that the previous terms were seen as an impediment to that -- it’s for that reason we’ve made this change. I hope that this change provides the flexibility you need, and gives you more reason to be excited about the upcoming retail release of our new operating system.
hmmm, like they initially said they would allow pirated windows XP operating systems to 'download critical security updates' to stifle the spread of viri and the like. How magnanimous of them... shame it didn't last much.
How much did I have to pay for a full retail copy of Window$ XP PRO... any guesses? £349.00. OEM only costs 90 quid... why? because you can only install it once, or rather it is non transferable from machine to machine, hardware to hardware - new computer = new windows and if you want to format a brand new drive... OEM no can do. So I paid £260.00 for a disk formatter and a transferable license. NICE.
I could have spent ages pissing about with 3rd party formating software, but that's just a pain in the backside when you consider the awesome regularity with which windows requires a total disk format and reinstall. Overwriting just doesn't cut it in my experience.
Bill has had his pound of flesh from me (for the time being at least). I will not be migrating to Vista any time soon. Perhaps when they stop supporting XP, whenever that'll be.
/eyes Vista with a suspicion borne of long experience with Window$ products ...maybe after service pack 10
note: For all my bitching I have never used copied OS software, even though I have been sorely tempted on more than one occasion, like when building a new machine or upgrading parts of an existing one.

My windowsxp pro is the OEM version and i can reformat, reinstall it as many times as i want. Dont know maybe its a differnet oem version than the one your speaking about? Didn't cost me a cent came with the last job, we all got our own cd but we all use the same one cd key miscrosoft sent us - part of the company policy at the time.

I have one of those too. The CD is a special varient along with your key which disables activation. Problem is, XP didn't permit you to do what you describe for the 'normal' user and it has been a problem in that you had to call MS every time you changed some major components (WHich seems like monthly for me!). Anyway, Vista now does away with this particular little annoyance which is why I posted the Eula changes.

I can only tell you that much: I will NOT buy Vista twice just because i have 2 Computers. Vista has now gone the same Nazi way TCPA already goes.
I think that will only add fuel to pirates. Buying vista? For that all activation and other registering muck? NOPE.
And that 3D GUI is another thing the world doesn't need. It will only make things harder, that's all it's gonna do.
I will ignore that EULA, as i did ignore any EULA's i ever came across. They always restrict what IMHO should be allowed.
My family is not going to Buy Vista 2 times because of this stuff Micro$oft and Billy "Adolf" Gates wants to force upon us. I mean, 800 Euro for a goddamn OS (If ye buy it 2 times)? WTF?!

THe 3D interface doesn't exist anymore. Load it up and take a look.
Anyway, if you game, MS may force you to switch since Direct X 10 will not be on XP according to MS. Nice.

Yes ive never had to activate xp pro, and never had to call MS everytime i change some major component and if i did have to do that i would of stuck with win2k with sp 3 which is good as winxp, minus the interface. If i read right Vista will have no activation or like you said calling up MS when some hddware is changed - that is total paranoia for MS. I'm suprised it doesn't contain starforce:roll:

I bet directx 10 will come out for Winxp about 12months after the release of Vista, by that time gamers would have moved to vista. Then MS will say they decided to release DX10 for those still running winxp!

I so wish i still was working at my old job as i know they will all be getting an OEM version of Vista for free when released :damn:
I will have to now pay hundreds of dollars for an OS  :dead:
Thats robbery man!:nope:
Wish Linux was gamer friendly.
Seeing the activation for Vista has changed, maybe they'll rethink it for XP. And do away with calling after hardware changes(motherboard).
I don't want to go to Vista and will hold off as long as possible. Hopefully any bugs will be worked out by then along with the hardware costing less for the changes. Including graphics cards for DX10. ;) I just upgraded to a XFX 6800XTreme and love this badboy. :D What a difference in SHIII and FS9. And what a difference in price from back when the 6800s came out till now. :yep:

Linux is very gamer-friendly in the sense that games can be made to run in it without problems, at similar performance as with other systems. The problem is that most game companies are not very Linux-friendly, and don't make compatible versions of their games. You can get stuff to get some Windows games to work on Linux (WineX), but it's far from perfect.

Part of the problem lies with the game companies, and part of the problem lies heavily with Ati.
Nvidia at least gives drivers that have equivalent 3d performance to those of the window version, but Ati oh my :nope: .
Its just hopeless trying to play in 3d with an Ati card in linux.
