View Full Version : Ship wouldn't sink!!!

Got back to my saved patrol last night.. Had the C2 just where I left her, closing on a perfect plot.. Verified that my pistol was still set to M, speed set to fast, and my depth about a meter below her draft. Opened the tube and just watched the gyro angle get closer to zero. Finally had the green triangle, gyro angle was 002, range around 400 meters.... Fire Tube 1 :smug:

Eel ran straight and true, passed under the keel and exploded.. Ship immediately settled in the water with a noticable list.. Since the planes that were harassing me were gone, I surfaced and began pumping HE into her.. She exploded and split in two.. But I never got the message that she was destroyed.. The icon was gone from my map and no sunk icon was in the spot. My UZO and scope would not lock on to the wreckage. The tips of the bow and stern were still burning and just above the water. I tried a few more round (Including AP) but they didn't make a difference.. Finally I got behind the flak gun and pumped about 200 rounds into the bow.. That finally sank. Pumped about 300 rounds in the stern, but that still floated and burned.. Sat near the burning wreckage for 3 hours and finally resumed my patrol..

I scrolled up through the watch officer reports and never saw a 'destroyed' message..

Anyone know what happened?? Wish I had that eel back :nope:

This is probably your problem. Funky things can happen when you either save submerged or save within (IIRC) a 50km radius of traffic.

Probably a bug. I managed to send 7 eels into a Nelson and she still didn't sink. She was in a harbour and the first topedoes make he sink one one side, I then sent 3 more fish on the other side, so she leved out, but didn't sink. Those were modified torpedoes, that break anything in half, the DD next to the ship blew up just nicely :D

I'd say a bug!

Actually, I have noticed that I dont get the message all the time but when I check my log....I do see the message telling me I sank a C2 or whatever it is I sank.

Let the captain's log be the final determiner.

I find that you have to get the message "she's going down" to get the credit. I save all the time and never had this happen, yet anyway.

There was no note in my Captain's log (K), or sunk icon or change in my next status message. Just one less eel :hmm:

I try to save when there's no one around & running on the surface, but sometimes you have to get off the CPU NOW

Thanks for the help...

If it happens again ram it.

Clear the bow torpedo room and move all of them into the repair section. Brace for impact:arrgh!:

I have had that a few times. All you can say is oh well and go about your business:nope:

Ok, I can accept that it was a fluke and happens sometimes.. Couldn't think of anything different I could have done..

Thanks for all the help!!!

That is why I use (untill GWX comes out) a modded GW, giving all my guns and torps extra power, so that one shot by either of them blows the ship into pieces! That way you always get the kill! :yep: But realism, it is not!

What is the mod, I have trouble sinking my ships in TGW1.1a also.

What he said. This is nothing new. Although it does seem to happen more often with the GW mod.
