Greeting everyone, I need some help here. I have a seperate SH3 installation for the TGW Mod. Installed the mod with JSGME. A look in the mod folder of my new Sh3 installation ( I called it "mySH3gw") shows that the gw mod is installed in the folder. I tryed to create a link from Sh3 Commander to start mySH3gw install.
The problem is that when I load the game I can't tell if it is the original sh3 file or the one with gw installed. And that brings me to my elementry question. How do you know if The Gray Wolves mod is working after you load the sim? O.K. now that everyone has had a good laugh, seriously, I really don't know since this is a first time installation and I have really never played either version of the sim yet. So if someone will stop laughing long enough to give me some help here, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Jim

First, a question in return: did you also install the official 1.4b patch? You need it.
To find out if you have Grey Wolves properly installed just start a career. The stock game has almost no ships in the friendly harbors. If GW is working you will see dozens of ships in the port and a pair of Messerschmitts flying overhead. The merchants will be in a variety of colors. Also there will be a small ship ahead to escort you out of the harbor; it will be called a flotengebleiter or verpostenboot. Neither of these appear in the stock game.
Of course, you'll also know it when the loading screen comes up and it says "The Grey Wolves".

Hi JustJim
If you have done right with the link to Commander it will show the path to which Sh3 installment it is loading in the titlebar. The line in target should look something like this
"C:\Program\SH3 Commander\SH3Cmdr.exe" /l:"C:\Program\Ubisoft\TGW11a\SilentHunterIII" .
If the harbour is full of ships when you load the game then you have TGW.
Just to clarify, the above is only needed if you have 2 or more Sh3 installments/copies. If so, make a separate shortcut to the Commander for each one with the path to the SilentHunterIII folder added as above. And, donīt forget to roll back the game with the same Sh3Commander you started it with every time you exit the game, should you want to start with another version the next time. Or, make a backup of the backup folder in the SH3 Commander folder and then empty it. This is to not get crosspolination between the Sh3 copies.

Thanks Sailor Steve for the info I thought that the load screen should have some clue to the GW when it loaded. Will try the carrier though to see what happens.
yes the patch was installed. First thing I did.
I think Von Swe has a clue to the problem. I left out a few things in the target Line of SH3 Commander. My line reads C:\program files\ubisoft\mySH3gw
I didn't enter any qoute marks or the \l: So I'll try to reword that also to include gray wolves 1.1a
At least I have some things to try. I just didn't know what to do.
Not to computer literate here. Its been an adventure just to get done what I've got done.
Thank for info.

I have the sub commander going to the file where i have graywolfs installed but now while it is loading I get a message that" \graywolfs\silenthunterlll\data\interior\nss_uboat 21\nss-uboat21_roo" source file is corrupt and I have to abort the install.
I need some ideas again. Any ideas about what to do? Any body.
Thanks
Jim

I found this (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=94844&highlight=multiple+installations) to be very useful for setting up multiple installations, especially   for kylania's explanations and tips.

Thanks for directing me to the Mod forum, von swe. You are right that is where i should have been posting. I am just so new at all this that I don't even know how to use the forums yet.
A great link you provided, Von Hesse. I will be going through it a lot closer when I get more time again. Maybe I can see where I am going wrong with this install process and get it right.
I'm going to keep hammering on this because if nothing else I am learning alot about my computer and folders and files and directories etc. With everyone here helping me, I'll get it right yet.
Appreciate it
Jim
