View Full Version : I am getting fed up with this
This Government here in England has a one track mind. :damn:
TAX,TAX AND MORE TAX.
Secret plans for a multi-billion-pound package of stealth taxes on fuel, cars, air travel and consumer goods have been drawn up by the government to combat global warming.

Steed, it's time to move to the US. We have taxes up the wazoo but nothing like GB and Canada. Heck we even have 5 states with no sales or state income tax. :D

I'll pitch you a tent in the backyard Steed. You won't have to pay property tax. Internet connection might be a bit dicey tho. Sadly, the nearest proper 'pub' serving fish and chips is up in British Columbia.

How is a tax going to help combat global warming?
So you understand where I stand on the subject. How do we know that warming isn't a natural event in the cycle of cooling and warming?
I guess I'm a bit tired of hearing that throughing more money at a problem is the solution.

Stealth taxes. Over here, they're known as "embedded" taxes.
Which is why I support the Fair Tax (http://www.fairtax.org/). Perhaps you Brits need something like it?
What is the point of these green taxes if the rest of the world dose nothing? I am not having ago at the rest of the world, just pointing out something that stands out and yet my Government can not see it. I know I have to pay tax but why is my Government bleeding us all dry?
I am sick of this constant tax I have too pay, I can no longer afford a private pension and any way after having a good talk to some real experts who said if your not on £25,000 to £30,000 a year forget it.
This is the worst Government too date and yet they will be voted back in to office, in Scotland there is a old joke Labour could put a pig up as a candidate and paint it red and stick a Labour flag up it's rear end and people will vote for it.

I agree, not saying we don't need to reform the system if it is messed up like in England but it should not be a business, IMHO.

Sir Nicholas Stern, Is the new prophet of Global warming. Non scientists scare mongering. The modern day Doom merchant.
It’s a big con Led by Politicians, Economists and a bunch of Greenies.
I have said and proven in another debate (Visual evidence for global warming #33) that NASA have openly said, using their geo Scientist, that the Ozone layer is recovering and that the media and other green activists have lied about the state of the Planet heading for doom. The 11 scientist who started the investigation deny they have said we are heading to doom, again check above link to verify my claims. They claim that the planet goes through changes every 100,000 years or so. Hence why ice ages come and go.
I say this to every one. Why are we not seeing scientist warn us of this and those that do where is their evidence? and why is NASA saying the opposite?
What we have here is WMDS again “Weather Monster Defective Sh*t”
The politicians are yet again deceiving us and I have an idea why.
The worlds Oil reserve is running out, how best to stop the use of it by china, India where 2 billion+ people live. They are making it disappear faster due to their growing economies, how does the west living standards prolong and how do we keep the west strong. By stopping others from using too much fossil fuel.
It’s a conspiracy theory like the war on Iraq was all about Oil. If those who believe that then its logical they should think about what I said.

Avon Lady, i was really entertaining the Gullible flock who seem to have their head buried in the ground like ostriches. The same lot who all ran about like headless chickens rushing to get Jabs (that dont work) for the last big dooms day warning “Bird Flew”.
All this is, is just legalised robbery by our Government. I expect this will be fought in the courts. If the 11 scientists who started this debate say others have twisted their reports, ie Media, greenies and governments. Then you have good evidence to fight this.

To say the NHS is free is a misconception. OK when I need to see the doctor I don't pay. If I need an operation or need hospital care I don't pay. However, I pay £140 per month out of my salary in National Insurance (separate from income tax) which is taken to cover my state pension, fund the NHS etc. So how can it be free?

It is free at the point of service, so you don't have to fork out on the spot.
Seriously I wonder if we should have a General Moan forum, or better yet a UK Moan forum.
I don't know about the other Brits here but I am getting kind of fed up with STEED's rants and moans. If he thinks the UK is bollocks then leave, go to another country.
I can't believe some of the stuff I read here. I think it is bloody ungrateful and it seems as if you don't appreciate how good we have it in the UK. If you want to moan I can think of a good many places I have visited in the past 10 years where people have a greater reason to moan but don't. They just get on with their lives.
And even with all its problems I'd rather have the NHS than the US system.
I seriously question the state of mind who have nothing to do but moan.

Well spotted too many of our M.P's being interviewed always say it's free, when in fact it is not.
XabbaRus, Why dose 67% of this population want to leave this country then?

Free at the point of delivery yes (except of course if you need to see a dentist where you end up paying out a fortune if you need work done), but it has to be paid for and that was the point I was trying to make.
Personally I think the UK has gone to the dogs and if I could I would be off to live abroad tomorrow. And I can only see the country going down hill further in the future. I have visited many poor countries and I know where you are coming from when you say "we don't appreciate how good we have it in the UK", but I have also been to countries such as Australia and New Zealand where the quality of life is much better than it is here, in my opinion anyway.

STEED is that 67% of all Daily Mail readers want to leave? Fine for all I care they can bugger off, would free up a lot of space.

I spent time in Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney doing work for the UK Government. I also spent a short time in Auckland. I agree "the grass is greener syndrome" can have an affect, but to be honest if I could I would be willing to give it a go.
And no I don't read the Daily Mail or any other newspaper for that matter.

Of course "free" healthcare is not free, but you pay over the year, and don't have to bunker your money because you could never know what happends (I hate that!). You can just say "I payed my tax, so my healthcare is secure!".

They say, you can judge a country by the amount of people who leave it .
The number of people leaving the UK reached 360,000 in 2004, a figure confirming a recent trend. It is estimated that 450,000 will leave this year.

The reson why they are leaving:
Taxes
Labour
Islam

Where I live my council ward is represented by BNP councillor. I never voted for them myself but I can understand why they have received such strong support in my area. To be fair though, I don't think it was taxes that swung it!
I agree that climate change is now being used by the UK government as a blunt instrument to raise taxes in the UK. I can't see the money raised from such taxes being invested in combating climate change.
