Since I am turning against all forms of political correctness, and since I haven't been to a movie in the theatres in quite some time, I think a good comedy is in order:

It looks extremely funny. I'm looking forward to seeing it. The TV segment (trailer)where he laughs at the feminists makes me chuckle every time I see it.

They are shunning it here in the US. :( Not sure if anyone is going to run it.

I think it is because many of folks in the US don't quite get it and take it literally.
Also maybe I am right or wrong but I think the anti-defamation league might not be too keen.
either that or you guys have realised he is sending up the midwest Americans, reinfrocing a negative stereotype and thus people don't like it.
If you take it satirically and read behind the face value joke there is a lot going on.

Its a comedy - people need to remember that. Blah! We get nothing good over here!

The trailers I've seen indicate he's going after the established thought (PC) of many in the US. I think I'll be very funny!!!!!

Aaah, but Borat and Sacha Baron Cohen have been on in the UK for years, he started as Ali G, and I believe Borat was a sketch on Da Ali G show.
So, to us from the UK, he's already a legend. ;)
I seem to remember that in his Ali G persona he was in a Madonna video.Aye!

I saw some fotage of the New York unvelling, The horse-draw streched old car, the fermented Camal Urine, the lifesaver in a full body G-string:o:o:o:o
No wonder kazikstan isn't happy, but I wonder if the Americans who feature in the film will have the same reaction, as many didn't know that it was and act...

I had on CNN headline news the other day and caught the end of a Borat story, and at the end of the clip he was in the green swimsuit and had to hold his crotch when he got up and adjusted the thong in the back. When they cut back to the female newscaster, she was shaking her head in shock, mouth wide open. :rotfl:

It looks like Russia has banned the film. :nope:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6130918.stm
A senior official at Russia's culture ministry has told the BBC it will not provide a distribution licence.
And the article concludes with:
A culture ministry official in Moscow told the BBC it had refused to issue a distribution licence because the film could potentially humiliate different ethnic groups and religions.
The official would not give any further details, except to say the distributors had the right to appeal against the government's decision.
What a sorry state of affairs.
Borat you got my vote for Prime Minister of England, we need a breath of fresh air from the rubbish we have too put up with. ;) :yep: :smug:

I can understand why the russians wont want that movie around as it does take the piss out of thier way of life and the russians dont exactly want riots in the streets.
Dont forget the country setting is a place of the former USSR

Borat must be execute! :88)
Seriously, I think the Russians are a little excited about the ban. Because now their hyper-efficient movie pirate industry is going to tout it as the greatest hit from the US&A. I trust every Russian with a DVD player will have seen this by the end of the year. :hmm:

The only people it takes the piss out of are the people he interviews.
