well it took about a year but i finally got a pc to run it, a laptop no less, but it froze, and i just hit the power button and rebooted it, should i get any mods, possibly the sh3 commander one or the mod enabler i remember hearing something about? and what do you have to do for the first training mission anyway?

If you're considering modding, you will need to advise us of your system specs. If you just barely meet the minimum, then I'd advise against it, for example.

Indeed. Most of the supermods run the harbor traffic mod which will absolutely rape and pillage your processor.
I'd stick with the stock SH3, and pick and choose your standalone mods, buffet style. I'm sure someone who knows a bit more about how memory and processor intensive each one is will come along and provide a bit more color than I can.

SH3 Commander is a great tool, but unless you're planning on using mods the mod enabler won't do much good. I'd get it anyway, just in case.
For the training mission just follow the prompts. They will give you an overall plan to follow, then send radio messages telling you exactly what to do.

Follow the orders exactly, and they will send you more.

I think you can go into the training mission folder or whatever its called and adjust the results yourself thus avoiding your problem.

The folder should be in the SH3 folder in "My Documents".
