Default New Screenshots

Just posted some new screenshots of the type VII (light) submarine

http://www.deepsix-online.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=57

No Guns on any ships, ocean is pre-alpha as well. During the tests I decided to try some ODE based physics for the ships and subs; the submarine is controlled by buoyancy - ballast tanks, trim tanks...a very interesting experience. This wont be in the game, but I had considered releasing a standalone app that would offer a sub controlled by buoyancy and dive planes; real physics. Any interest in that?

Sure !

The VIIC seems to lay pretty deep in the water. Hey you said you used ODE for buoyancy modeling. Does the sphere technique for it ?

yes, using spheres in a rigid body frame to do the buoyancy. It's sitting low in the water as I was experimenting, running it at around 100kts (unrealistic) so I could get around quickly for the screens; had to run it near decks awash to keep it stable above water.

Ehem, i have a question.

How can you pay for this? Somehow without credit card? What types of payment will be supported?

And what's the difference between "Northland" and "Westland"?

Thx Dreb. The Wabo is in the Captains Safe btw.

Registration, Payment, Et Al. are a little ways off. I'm in pre-Alpha, testing discreet bits currently. We did a test of the signup and account creation a couple weeks ago. Hoping to have another signup test with chat and community bits while the rendering engine is being worked on.

BTW, if you'd like to support the effort (yup, unfunded personal project), stop by http://www.cafepress.com/deepbluesea and pick up a mug, cap, whatever you fancy.

Westland has a red flag, Northland has a blue. Other than that, no differences. Everyone uses the same equipment. It's a game not a sim.(que sounds of stampede of people leaving the forum....)

As we are going to include some real physics (testing the network coordination for this right now) I thought I'd put out the idea of a small standalone (free) app featuring real physics (as real as I can make it anyways) to toy with if there was enough interest.
