I'm waiting of Charles Kingford-Smith to be found. Not to mention HMAS Sydney, the only cruiser to be sunk by an armed merchant cruiser "Kormarn"

At present a private foundation, HMAS Sydney Search Pty Ltd, is attempting to locate the wrecks of the cruiser Sydney and the German raider Kormoran she fought her last battle with.
Won't be easy. If I recall correctly she sank out in the vast reaches of the Indian Ocean far from land. Kinda like the hunt for the Titanic which took so many years.

A search area has been narrowed down, and plans are underway to start a search. The Federal government and a couple of states have put up funds to help. I hope it can be added to the list of the above sub's, as this would bring closure to so many. |
