Default I seek your mod guidance, O wise ones

Dear all

In my quest to select the 'perfect' set of SH3 mods, starting with the tremendous Grey Wolves, I have ended up with more than I imagined possible.

My worry is... do I have too many? In the wrong order? Conflicting?

I couldn't think of anyone better to ask than all of you. I hope you don't mind. Basically, everything appears to be working except for the fact that I haven't seen any fog or clouds yet. I am poised to commit a serious amount of time to this wonderful sim, and can't bear the thought of having set it up poorly.

Could you please glance over my installed SH3 mods below and tell me if you think any should be changed, moved or removed? I'd be extremely grateful for your thoughts on this.

SH3 mods (in order):

- Grey Wolves Mod 1.0
- Grey Wolves Update v1.1
- Unified Campaign_GW
- GW 1.1 1024 & Overlay HotFix
- GW-IO
- JIRM - Grey Wolves + IO
- GW slideout dials for GW_IO
- GW Tdc mod
- Atmosphere mod_16km_version_2_dark
- GW_new ships add on _v0.1
- Jcwolf Leer_v5
- Fubar crew skins
- GW_Back Menue_Day
- GW_Back Menue_Night

I realise some of these choices are purely subjective. But if any conflict or are placed in the wrong order, please could you let me know? It's been challenging keeping up with them all!

My thanks for your comments in anticipatio

A fair reply, Rogerbo.

What I should have said is: *will* I encounter a problem with these? I am particularly unsure of the Integrated orders vs Unified Campaign mods, and whether or not I have properly installed the Tonnage-based rewards model, as opposed to merely renown. Something I will not discover until I return from long patrols.

Also, would you recommend an alternative Atmosphere mod? I know there has been some debate about which is best.

Thanks in anticipation.

i run the GW 1.0 + 1.1 with 8km Athmosfere mode.
I do have my own basic.cfg, Shell.zon, and all the Sub. sim files are modified. also made some own map modes just so it fits me.

I would suggest that you start slow, install 1 mod look how it feels and how your PC performes, then look what's missing and add it. I think that if you load to much at the beginning then you may have installed to much or you could experience slow downs of your PC

You are in the best position to answer your own question.

As you load each mod pay attention to the files that are are already modified... look into any that you do not understand and approve of. That is the definitive list of possible conflicts among the mods.

If more than one change the same files, make sure the desired version is loaded last. You may even have to create a new file that incorporates all of the combined features.

Okay, thanks guys. Just wanted to check there were no obvious (to you) conflictions that I might not discover straightaway.

Do I actually need 'Unified Campaign_GW' AND 'GW-IO' mod?

I was keeping up with all the mod discussions for awhile, but I took a break from it all and now can hardly remember anything! So much to think about.

I certainly would reccomend using Jaesen Jones Mod Enabler if your not, as if a conflict is going to occur the Enabler will warn you first that a prior mod is about to be flattened, and you can remove the mods anytime as well as updating/replacing etc.

Exactly, the JGSME mod enabler really should be considered "mandatory" if anything for those who are inexperienced in reference to patching SH3.

All you need to run GW properly are (In proper order):

GW 1.0 (Six part download)
GW 1.1 Update
GW 1024 Cfg and Bearing Overlay Hotfix.

The rest of the mods on your list are basically add-ons. I would wait a bit to make sure these are running well before further patching.

Just what I needed to hear, fellows. My thanks to you all.

Nearly finished reading Iron Coffins (the Werner stealth escape from Brest!) and I am raring to get back into the game. :P
