I pick "all of the above"
Most of the people I play with on a regular basis I hooked up with on Gamespy(never found anyone in hyperlobby), through here or www.orionwarrior.com forums. Can't comment on ICQ as I'm an MSN Messenger-er. |

I played a gamespy game today. The lobby really isn't that much happening (3-6 people when I was there), and there's a lack of game rooms. Like I saw in another thread, the people you will see on there are not like the people here. Well obviously if more people from here move to there, it will be.
My first gamespy game experience went like the following: I opened a room, had 3 people, started the game. Only two people showed up, so I restarted the game with 4 people. I picked the mission where you have 4 player-controlled subs. Strangely, I didn't pick show truth but when the game started it was on, assumingly from when I had it on from a single player mission. I don't know if that's a bug or not, but one guy totally took advantage of this and unleashed EVERYTHING he had on anyone around him (with the presets all wrong, of course). I closed the game because nothing was ever going to be right, even if I turned show truth off. Then I played two games with this guy who didn't really know to much about how to play the game. I played one mission where he was controlling a P3 Orion and I was in a sub hunting down a single cargo ship. He had no idea how to control it, and couldn't find me at all. Unforunately, I shot at the wrong ship and the game ended. Then I played a mission where we were two Oliver Hazard Perrys hunting down a pair of kilos which are hunting supertankers we have to escort. I have problems getting out of the dock and then an AI ship almost crashed into me trying to steal my dock space. After we get that straightened out, we're heading flank to the supertankers. He launches his helo, immediately destroying it. I go afk for about 15 minutes and nothing really changed, he was just goofing around with stuff, then he disconnected. |

Justin Knight, those are pretty bad multiplayer experiences.
I really really hate when noobs enter a game. I mean c'mon at least read the manual and play 2-3 weeks in single player to get acquainted with the different systems before jumping into multiplayer matches. If you want to have a good online experience, you should register with one virtual navy. Otherwise you'll have a difficult time looking for matches, and most of them on gamespy and hyperlobby (even though hl is mosgtly deserted right now) will turn out to be like the games you just experienced. |

Try scheduling a game over at the CADC. Simply post day(s) and time when you are available in the apropriate forum and you should get a bunch of people together.
