Default How to sink the big boys?

This has happened multiple times to me.

Situation: 1942 Gato class attacking battleships and carriers.

I unload all my bow and stern tubes on a single battleship and perhaps score eight hits with a couple of dud torpedoes.

Then, I begin escort evasion. I do not receive any report that the target is sinking. I thought I might, since the PM 1.03 release notes say that ship damage may get progressively worse.

After many hours of evasion, I surface hoping to find a crippled battleship to finish off. However, searching reveals nothing.

So, my question is how to sink the big boys of the Japanese fleet?

Thanks.

You needed one more fish! The Nagato I sent to the bottom took 9 torpedos, then slowly capsized and sank. This battleship was sunk after two separate attacks several days apart, just happened to run into the TF twice.

A Kongo took less, but had already been damaged running aground.

We also sank a Shokaku class carrier after hitting it with 20 torpedos in 4 separate attacks (7 duds) before she went down. Tough old girl

Have aslo sunk several heavy cruisers and a few light cruisers too, but I don't think that's what you're after.

You could try editing the .udf files to either increase the torpedoes' damage points if you feel the ships are too invulnerable...............or edit the individual ships themselves to decrease their hit points to something more you deem to be reasonable.

On average, SH2 battleships take 6 eels to sink; carriers 5; heavy cruisers 4; light cruisers 3.

Sounds about right raptor.

I have sunk destroyers, covettes and subs with 1 torpedo, light cruisers 2-3 torpedos, heavy cruisers 3-4 torpedos, escort carriers 3-4 torpedos, heavy cruisers, battle cruisers, Aircraft Carriers and battleships about 6 torpedos, this also depends on the range that you fire your torpedos from. I fire mine from under 500 metres but not lower that 300 metres unless its FAT's on heavier slow vessels and anywhere from 800 to 2500 metres for faster ships.

Merchant ships under 500 metres and a 20,000 ton ship can be sunk with two torpedos at close range
