I'm looking for some kind of operational history of the british WW2 submarine arm.
Some kind of Clay Blair for the british, with some technical detail but mostly patrols/tactics/decisions, recently written (with the role of codebraking allready known) and incorporating sources from the other side regarding sunk ships. Just like Hitler's Uboat war, only for the british (Churchill's Uboat war??? )Sofar I've only found technical reference books and narrations on individual subs (HMS Upholder mostly). I pretty much know everything about Uboats, and some stuff about US Submarines (thanks to "Silent Victory") but almost none about brit subs.

Its nowhere near the detail you want, but a feel for the time can be gained from One of our Submarines by Edward Young

The best book I have read is One Of Our Submarines by Edward Young who was a British sub skipper in WW2 and this is his story.

Submarine Commander by RADM Ben Bryant was good (if you can find it). I haven't read the other one's mentioned here so I don't really have a basis for comparison, but I thought it gave a good, first person account of British submarine operations in the Med.
