Default SH3Gen campaign enhancement BETA available (version 0.5.0)

I just wanted to make public that everyone is invited to betatest Sh3Gen, a small tool that is intended to change the way we play Sh3. The goal of Sh3Gen is to give the missions more direction, and create opportunities for roleplaying Sh3. Especially, I wanted to give information about the elusive warships and inform about just the right moment to sneak into ports, as I personally never had a single warship encounter, nor sunk a ship in a port.

Sh3Gen is reading and analysing the campaign data in Sh3 (Campaign_LND, Campaign_SCR, Campaign_RND). It then makes randomized predictions based on the patrol date, patrol area and lots of historic info. If it succeeds, randomized data is then written back into a savegame, so that the info shows on reload.

Precisely, Sh3Gen will give you:

-Intelligence data about some enemy ports - what kind of ships are there?
-Intelligence data about warships, big ships and convoys - where does the Kriegsmarine suspect them to be?
-Information about the overall situation - whats going on in the world in general?

Of course, this information will only be given occasionaly and not always reliably. The information will show up in the ingame map and wardiary. So far, I am quite satisfied about the way Sh3Gen can give directions about the places to look for targets, but I think there is still a lot to be done in terms of balancing the amount of info with all the various campaign mods.

The great thing is that, while people are working on sophisticated new campaign files, we can now use Sh3Gen together with their mods to have a greater Sh3 experience.

GlobalExplorer,

i have been using sh3 gen since you posted it, and it works great!
your program shows convoys, hunter/killer groups, harbor traffic,
it helped me locate and sink a passenger liner in BF17, i cant say enough about your program. i have had no problems whats so ever, its really great work.

i might sound crazy, but i almost have an elite crew in my type VIIc,
just a couple of more promotions to go, then i want to take on a hunter/killer group that sh3 gen locates. thanks very much for an outstanding program.

If you should have problems with the newest version try one the older ones on my site. Apart from a problem with Sh3Cmdr, which JScones and I are working on, I am not aware of any problems. You run it once, at the beginning of your patrol. You will find a short, easy to read explanation in the documentation under "Quickstart".

Once the info is written into your savegame it will stay with you during the whole patrol, no matter how often you save / reload.

i wunder if it could be incoperated.

Come again? I didn't exactly understand. In case you don't know, Sh3Gen already marks most friendly/axis mines, subnets as well as some hostile/allied ones according to intelligence situation.

Good news for all users of Sh3Gen and SH3 Commander. JScones has provided a fix for the problem with "Update Personnel File":

To install, simply drop SH3Cmdr.exe into your SH3 Commander folder.
