The F16 is one of the best fighters in the world comrade? But give me an Su-27 Flanker anyday.

In the famous words of Brigadier General Mcauliffe, "Aw, nuts". We should have bought F16's instead of the F/A-18's that we did all those years ago. I'm talking about Australia here of course.
But there is an "I like it" option of which 90% have voted for.

Hey, I don't know why you have such a bone to pick with the Viper Kapitan, but I think that it is probably one of the best fighters of the last quarter century. Testament to its greatness is the sheer amount of Air Forces that use them around the world, including some of the worlds best Air Forces like the USAF, the Israeli Air Force, and a whole bunch of NATO Air Forces. Also, it has a big advantage over the Hornet in range and is still in production and undergoing major upgrades despite first flying in the mid 70's. Its the Volkswagen Beetle of western Air Forces and it does its job well, what more is there to say?

Well the newer versions have longer range but so does the Super Hornet. Debends on what you compare.

Well, as far as range goes hornet vs. viper, the F-16 of all variants will always beat out the F/A-18A/B/C/D. This is because for some reason or another the amount of fuel the basic hornet carries internally was never increased from that of the demonstrator, which typically carries much less gas than the production model. Oops. Thats why you almost always see Hornets carrying at least two external gas tanks, and even then the Hornet has nottoriously short range. The Super Hornet is a whole new ball game, in fact it is really a whole new airplane and the gas issue has more or less been fixed, although it is rare to see a Super Hornet sans external tanks either so the increase in range might not be all it was cracked up to be.

Guess il have to trust you in this one. But one fact remains, the Hornet can take more damage than the Falcon. So its more likely to come back
