Very cool...too bad these scientists couldn't think of a better way to attract them then using a line that may accidently cut off one of thier tentacles...num nutz.Maybe they could just drop small remote cameras mounted on bases etc like old water mines with bait on em and just have it record as things swim by em...who knows...poor squiddy.

I was thinking the same thing Iceman, even remote cameras could do the work without lines, I suppose these meathods are required when dealing with unquie circumstances such as these...

I watched a proram where there is currently a New Zealander, capturing baby giant squids. But that was a good 6 months back. And he was looking after them, he found out that they don't react well with foam boxes and salt water. They all died in his first catch, cause of reaction of foam and salt. But he learnt the trick and I would like to find out how it is going.........

I've heard on the news that it was a relatively small one. There seem to be much bigger examples...

What if we get a big fishing boat and go down yonder and catch us a giant squid ...
Then we could put it in a big aquariumn in Arizona maybe and have everyone stop and take a look ... We could make millions ... anybody in?

We knew there are large squid. Sperm Whales like the tasty creatures and dive deep for them. When the squid uses it sucker in attempt to fend off the whale, the sucker would leave a scar. These sucker marks were as bid as dinner plates. The deep ocean is vastly unexplored. We know very little about the very deep parts.
