Prein et al learned the hardest way possible that it is most difficult to avoid detection,not to mention depth charges, when,in waters so clear, one's boat can plainly be seen from the surface while over 200 feet down.

Things break.
A sumbarine is a very complex machine, hundreds of things can be damaged. Even with out being Depth Charged or some type of accident, things do break. And that could of been the case too. If he did survive the intial depth charge attacks from Wolverine and company. His boat probably succumbed to damages while trying to slip away. |
