Poorly-maintained British C-2.
![]() C-2, clean, disruptive camoflage. ![]() Rusted C-2, alternate superstructure texture. ![]() Transport, slightly weathered. Ju-87's go on a rampage in the background. ![]() Weathered C-3 with a load of fighter aircraft. The model looks awkward unless you set the draft to about 12m. ![]() T-2, clean, grey overall. ![]() T-3, disruptive pattern. So far, I've only seen this on photos of U.S. Navy cargo ships and oilers, so it will be a rare scheme. ![]() T-3, two-tone paint scheme. Based on a scheme in the only color photo I have of a WWII convoy. ![]() The small merchant, victory ship, and small tanker still need major work. |

Thanks, Luke. BTW, this version will use the updated readme and more streamlined installation method suggested by AvonLady and Woof1701. Now things ought to be easier for anyone with Silent Hunter III installed to a directory other than C:\ or C:\Program Files.

I love the Early War version of this mod, it's made SH3 into a new game since I don't feel I'm sinking the same ship over and over anymore.
The Late War version is eagerly awaited! |

Very nice... how did you reset the draft on those top heavy/ready-to-capsize-in-a-light-breeze C3's?

I call for a release! I have completely stalled my 1942 game until this mod is released!! :|\
![]() Anyways, I am sure that iambecomelife is not mean enough to falsely tease us with something so nice unless it is close to release. Am I right?

Not too sure about a release date. It kind of depends on the frame of mind I'm in. When I'm focused I can create some pretty good textures, but if I'm distracted or having an off day they end up looking absurd. The good news is that most of the bigger ships are done, and the smaller cargo ships shouldn't take very long. |

. I think we should set the cargo ships lower and lower as the war goes on, since the Board of Trade increased the maximum permissible load for ships because of the demand for wartime shipping. This makes magnetic shots a lot more challenging. Maybe we should do this for the pre-WWII warships, too - most of them received more antiarcraft guns, ammunition, and crewmembers as the war went on and thushad a deeper draft than their original design specs.EDIT: Apparently you MUST use SH3 Inspector. Modding the cfg text alone will not do the trick. |

Slightly off topic, sorry, but I think it's such a pity that the WW1 style 'dazzle' camouflage was discontinued, and the WW2 version of it was less striking overall. There are some great examples of 'dazzle' camouflage (see below), but alas they must wait until we get a WW1 U-boat sim:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dazzle camouflage was created to fool the eye of a submarine officer, causing him to misjudge a target's range or heading. From the above photos (especially the second and third ones) it can be seen how effective such a camouflage scheme could be. It takes a while to figure out what it is you're looking at, and even when you get it, it's confusing.
