Default Sunk ship markers problem

I've been testing RUB 1.42 recently and I've noticed something strange with the sunk ships markers (those marks that indicate where you have sunk a ship). I've sunk 4 ships and, although they all appear in my log book (K), two of them are not marked on the map.

Does anyonw has the same problem? Any way to fix it?

Well that's a minor bug though. I'm really enjoying the new plotting mod.

(BTW, I've also had the ship ID disappearing when a wave caps my persicope. Really ennoying)

Hmmm sure they were not neutral, I sank a US liner by mistake and it showed up in my log but not on the screen with a marker.

There is a sunk ship marker? I've never seen this...Is it a realism option in thre menu or something?

It only shows up when you enable the "God's Eye" map mode.

As far as I know, you have to see the ship go down to get the marker.

It actually seems to be kind of mixed, to me... I'm not totally sure if it's related to seeing it or not. Last time I checked though, I'm fairly sure that all ships I sunk on the surface did show up, whereas ships I sunk at periscope depth did not always show up, even if I watched them go.

Yes, I think that's the case. I had the same thing on my current patrol, attacking a heavily escorted convoy. I put 2 torps into a C2 cargo, and dived as soon as I let the fish go (with a Corvette less than 1000m away, I didn't want to hang around).

I got the 'Enemy unit destroyed' message, but no marker on the map.

I think it's actually related to the precise contact decay time in the contacts.cfg. Hence with precise contact decay set to zero, or something very short, at PD if you take a wave over the scope before SHIII counts the contact as destroyed, you won't get the marker. It's just a theory though with only a couple of data points to support it.

Same for me.. I put 2 eels into a T3 Tanker... at different points in time.. in a heavily guarded convoy during a mid-night storm..

I had to evade the escorts to reload.. the T3 didn't explode, but I saw it settling into the water on external cam, so I knew it was sinking... but I didn't see it go under cause I went deep.. I got a kill credit in the Log, but no sunk ship marker on the Nav Chart...

It's kinda odd.. in 1.1 or 1.2, sunk ship markers would appear all the time on the Nav Chart from small Cargos sinking in big storms hundreds of miles away... now, the small Cargos don't sink in big storms anymore (if at all), so the Nav Chart is very clean.. wonder if they're related?...

Cordialement, Duke of Earl

Sure! One of them was a light cruiser in Loch Ewe!
